$109 NLHE MTT: $100 + $9 NLHE MTT: How would you have played this AKo differently?

Hi guys, At the weekend I managed to freeroll into the $50,000 Sunday challenge on 888. I had been playing for about an hour with only a couple of hands worth playing (neither of which I took the pot)
The table had been playing quite conservatively up to this point when I was dealt :ah4::kc4:
Below is a description of how the hand went down up to the flop. I would like to know how you would have played this hand, as I don't think I played it very well from the beginning. Later I will post the rest to say how it ended.

#Game No : 966042143 ***** 888poker Hand History for Game 966042143 ***** $40/$80 Blinds No Limit Holdem - *** 11 02 2018 20:27:53 Tournament #117050408 $100 + $9 - Table #8 8 Max (real money) Seat 1 is the button Total number of players : 8 Seat 1: ( $7,834 ) Seat 2: ( $1,462 ) Seat 3: ( $3,198 ) Seat 5: ( $4,255 ) Seat 6: ( $5,934 ) Seat 7: ( $10,735 ) Seat 8: Hero ( $5,053 ) Seat 10: Villain ( $6,567 ) S5: posts ante [$8] S7: posts ante [$8] S3: posts ante [$8] S6: posts ante [$8] Hero posts ante [$8] Villain posts ante [$8] Villain posts ante [$8] S2: posts ante [$8] S2: posts small blind [$40] S3: posts big blind [$80] ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to Hero [ Kc, Ah ] S5: calls [$80] S6: calls [$80] S7: folds Hero calls [$80] Villain raises [$480] S1: folds S2: folds S3: calls [$400] S5: calls [$400] S6: folds Hero calls [$400] ** Dealing flop ** [ 2c, Kh, 8c ] S3: checks S5: checks Hero checks Villain bets [$1,075] S3: folds S5: folds
As you can see other than the villain no-one has shown any aggression and after his post-flop bet everyone else has folded. The action is on me with top pair/top kicker......What would you have done differently up to this point or what would you do now from this point onwards? I am really trying to get better at poker so your feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Sparky.

Hey,

You've made quite a lot of mistakes preflop. AK is a premium hand which must raise preflop NEVER limp. Size it up to around 500~and click raise.
You got a chance to put more money in the pot after you got raised and still just called.
Regarding postflop just call this bet and lets see a turn.

It doesnt matter, villain has AK as well, it is a splitpot. But yes, with two limpers you should have raised preflop. If he had re/raised you, he might have AA, KK. limping gives you no information. Now you are sitting on the flop, asking yourself if he might have kk, ISN-T IT?

how did you gert into that 50.000_ I am really interested.

You're ahead of KQ, KJ and all his continuation bets and behind AA, KK, 88 and 22 - think you should call flop and let him keep betting most of the time (especially since you have a high club in your hand).

As mentioned pre-flop probably best not to limp behind and then just call a raise with this hand, isolate the limpers with a decent-sized raise yourself or limp-reraise, there is a lot of dead money in the pot after he makes it 480 and gets two callers.

Good luck to you! :D

As said before- don't limp. After the raise I would reraise to iso and maybe pickup the pot right there.
As played- call and lets see a turn.

Hero raises [$4,565]
Villain calls [$3,490]
turn ** [ 3s ] river ** [ Ts ]
** Summary **
Hero shows [ Kc, Ah ]
Villain shows [ As, Ac ] - Villain collected [ $11,234 ]

As you can see I pushed all-in and he called with AA. That was me out of the tournament. I know I played this hand very badly from the start and thanks to your feedback I will definitely play it better next time in this situation.

Thanks very much guys.

I played in a first depositors freeroll on 888 and the top 10 finishers of that won a free ticket $109 into the Sunday Challenge.

maybe next time, if you have the chance, unregister and use the $T to play smaller tournies if that's an option.

AK is a premium preflop, definitely worth a raise to 2.5bb+ 1bb per limper.

Once we do limp and theres so much in there, very easy jam.

Post flop easy call here, with intention of stacking off on all turns.
