Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 17/9/4

V stats above with a 0% fold big blind.

I'm in the process of increasing my RFI frequencies and experimenting with raise sizing. As a result I'm minraising more with the addition of more hands. My usual raise size is between 2.5-3.0.

In retrospect, with V's 0% FBB, I need to raise larger preflop.

I need to bet here with a range advantage against this V. Obviously a Q,J, or heart should be potentially barreled on the turn. I bet half pot. Maybe I need to shy a bit smaller to a 1/3rd pot given the dry flop.

When the BB has a very low fold to steal, I'll generally defer from my usual 2.1x sizing and open 2.24x. If the BB is defending 80%+ and you know for sure, then it is best to tighten up your button opening range and open 2.5-3x pre.

Bet 1/3rd pot on this flop.

Here's the turn:

Player HERO bets (265)
Player VILLAIN calls (265)
*** TURN ***: [3c 6d 6h] [10s]
Player VILLAIN checks

I do not believe this is a good barrel card though it is higher than the board.

I chose to check.

Here's the River and action.

Player HERO checks
*** RIVER ***: [3c 6d 6h 10s] [Qd]
Player VILLAIN bets (1020)

We hit top pair but V is still leading River.

Any views?

I would fold my top pair here! Stealing aggression is a strong indication of having a solid hand. He would definitely pot size betting his 6x for the value on the river!

Villain seems tight and passive and that's a big river bet, I don't think many players with these stats bluff here. I'm also not sure what hands you're beating that would bet for value. Unless I'd seen them bluff post flop before I would fold.

What are your reasons for betting the flop and why half pot? Or even 1/3 pot?

Also you say V is still leading the river, but this is the first time they have lead, a big change in their aggression towards this pot.

Reasons for betting flop:
1) V has a 0% fold BB over 200 hands.
2) V has a 67% fold to cbet
3) this is a dry flop that is dynamic bc of the low cards and can be barreled with reasonable freq.

Anyways, point 2 means this is likely fold but I got stubborn bc V has an Agg factor of 2.2. Admittedly with tight preflop numbers ex the BB defend numbers, this number can be inflated bc V is playing a tight range pre.
