Villian Stats (VPIP/PFR/AF): 15/11/1

V's stats are from 27 hands, his 3-bet is 8.3%. My very vague read would be that he's a tight competent player.
I lost 11.6BB in this hand, looking back I feel I was too passive but not sure what I'd do much differently. Here's my thought process:
PF: call to keep villain in with his whole range vs my marginal holding
Flop: check to bettor then raise my strong draw
Turn: call due to implied odds
River: check/fold my busted draw
What do you all think of my thinking? How would you play it?

Your hand is strong enough to open 3x pre if your opponent fold enough to steal from SB. But in general you played well on flop but you shouldnt call turn bet cause you dont have enough pot odds for call.Anyway the best decision will be to analyze this spot in flopzilla and see what equity you have with this hand vs opp range.

Preflop
Limping from SB can be an ok strategy in tournaments, but your rationale is off. You dont have "a marginal hand" here, you have a monster heads up. The real issue is, you are out of position, and he has you covered. With antes an open raise need to be pretty large to get him to fold in position, and for ICM reasons you prefer to keep the pot small. But open raising is at least a consideration here.

Flop
I prefer to lead out rather than check-raise. It keeps the pot smaller, and you dont particularly want to get it all in with a draw.

Turn
I prefer to fire a second barrel, and I would also have done that, if I had led the flop. At this point you want him to fold, because there is only one card to come, and checking does not make him fold.

River
As played nothing else to do now than just give up.
