So this was at early levels of the Big $0.55, I like to open suited connectors at this stage of the tourney so I can hit a good hand, and I did. The problem was that the pot got too big and I don't know if my bet sizings were ok or if I should've taken a more conservative approach, maybe checking the turn since I got 2 callers on the flop. The bet on the river from villain was too tiny to fold and I hated to do the call but I don't think it was that bad. Any thoughts?

I’d almost never open with 78s from UTG. It’s definitely unconventional but you do have some equity here and pretty good implied odds. Would love to open with this hand on the cutoff or button.

Maybe a little bigger post flop bet? Especially once there’s a call on such a wet board, people have a ton of outs here and great pot odds.

Tough to play once you get called by three players. Might be nitty of me but I probably give someone credit for the hearts and get out on the turn to any bet. The 9 is also a terrible card - you are losing to any 6, any 10, two hearts, and sets - all of which is in your opponents’ range. The quarter pot bet is a great value bet by him, but with the shove I’m almost always folding here.

Tough hand to fold, obviously. Lesson here, for me, is to fold mediocre hands OOP so we don’t have to make tough decisions like these.

Preflop open is a little bit too lose, but it's ok, especially if you feel like you have an edge over other players. i also 87s in cheap tournaments, because if you hit nuts you get payed very well.

On this kind of flops you should have two bet sizes for two different betting ranges. First range is polarized, you have flushes, straights and sets as value bets and Ace high flush draws. With this range you don't need that much of protection, so you go for small bet size, like 30%. Your second range should be over pairs and two pairs and some bluffs with a K of heart, or maybe Ten of heart. With this range you need to protect your hand and should go for a big bet. That is a default strategy in this kind of flops, but, you are playing 55 cents tournament, so it's ok to go with big size bets with all your betting range. Either way, with your hand you should go with a big bet on the flop, like 10bb.

As played, on the turn, now it's time to slow down. Opponents easily can have flushes, straights, sets and better two pairs. When you bet, you are basically value betting yourself. Check and if they bet big, it's just fold.

On the river, it's same reasoning, you don't beat anything, your hand is not a good bluff catcher, You don't block straight, you don't block flush, so you should just check-fold.

I think when i'm double diamonds and I see three hearts, i'd check somewhere and see who had one big heart. you can call once if you want and see if a 4th heart comes, but if you figure 3 others in that hand the odds someone else is doubled in hearts is what, 3/25 so not that bad but the odds of people having 1 heart is high, especially since each subsequent heart is 1/5 chance or so on turn and river. if you were HU with someone I think your betting is right to push them out with spec hands but with this many I think you're almost guaranteed a losing proposition.

This board is so wet your two pair is a bluff catcher. I'm check calling this down and not playing for stacks. It's rare that I let two pair go but here I can for sure.

The worst board to flop two pairs , it is so wet. Although I would like to see at least the turn because if you complete your full house you will get paid well. So probably a check call on the flop for me and a fold on the turn would be my line of play here.

The 5 on the turn completes any straight draws and the 9 on the river makes it even worse. Since you are holding no heart you don't block any flush draws and you block none of their bluffs [9x,5x type of hands].

Your postflop play definitely raises questions.

For example, on the flop you bet out on an extremely wet board in a multiway pot. By this you scared off all hands you definitely crush; the hands left are mostly completed flushes and draws, maybe completed straights and draws. Possibly there would be sets/2 pairs/premium pocket pairs as it's hard for any player to lay down a good hand when it's beaten.

Your subsequent betting on the turn can't affect completed flushes in any way; also it's unlikely to chase away good draws because of big implied odds. This bet looks like a very expensive way to find out where you stand.

Your check on river is ok since betting makes no sense; calling isn't ok since you are likely crushed and relatively small bet-sizing was used exactly to make you call.

Overall you aggressive play isn't justified - with 5 players involved it's very likely that some of them have at least 1 heart, and there were 2 more streets to go. And your only way to improve is to make a full house. I think check/fold is ok on the flop but check/call is an option too; if call is made then check/fold on later streets.
