How do you think I should have played this? I feel like I played it good. I raised minimum and was going to shove or call an all-in PF. The reason I minraised was so I could hopefully see the flop, if the flop had overcards than I would check/fold. With me having an overpair I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to go all in. I didn't actually think I was going to be called. Anyway, blinds were high and were going over in 2mins. Top 13 get paid and there was 17 people remaining including me, I was in 12th or 13th. Do you think this was a good risk I took?

Pre flop here it is a shove or fold situation 88 just doesn't play well enough post flop with 17/18bb and puts you in all kinds of weird spots when in a multi player pot or 3 bet etc. I would lean towards a fold because its a non turbo game and you can certainly find a better spot.

As played youre certainly going with your hand because beside flopping an 8 you have flopped as good as you possibly could have. I think you may be better off making a bet than commits you to the pot and then calling off. maybe bet 1400-1500 and if raised go with it or if called push any turn. You will give hands you beat less incentive to fold, when you shove usually only overs with a flush draw, over pairs, sets and A7s will call and you dont do good vs that range.

Fold pre utg and look for a better spot especially around the bubble.

I think all-in was too hasty in that situation. You have more than 15BB and 4 eliminates to get into money.
Raise pre was ok. I think C-bet on flop for 1/3 of pot would made Your hand stronger. You open from UTG on the bubble on shortstack (It suggest that You have big hand). Small C-bet on flop invite opponents to play with You and K on turn is great for You to play all-in bluff
Of course if oponent will raise Your c-bet, You should fold and wait for good moment to play All-in and double up.

Also important question is: How to play Your opponent :)

is not the best hand to open that position, but when opening think of cbet only in case of crack , did not like the shove on the flop , I would have checked to see the action of the villain who made the call , I would try to pull when it hits the King.
