I've already been told that I should not rely on the result, but does anyone have any tips on how I can not miss opportunities like this?

This is quite relative. All deep world and probably the beginning of the tournament, you can actually be guided by the outcome and was exactly what happened, as it gave FOLD PF.

Enhance your studies mainly range of hands, bet size and structure of the tournament that is being played.

I have been experimenting with over limping in pre flop when I have a stack between 20 and 40 BB. In theses scenarios, I am limping in with small to mid pairs (22 to 99) and most suited connectors. Limping behind with these hands and folding to a 3 bet from behind or from the blinds will help to balance your range for when you flat behind with AA or KK, tempting players into a squeeze play.

In a small sample size, I have done quite well as I believe that I play well post flop in position. I try to play all my sets, two pair, combo draws all very aggressively. The important thing to remember when employing this strategy is to not get too attached to one pair hands when there is multi way action before you.

I will be posting a hand for analysis where I :qh4: :8h4: from the CO in a min raise pot, a similar situation

I don't like the open limp strategy I rarely do that and always depends on my table dynamics in order to trap some weaker opponents.

You could have 7 2 off and the flop could been 772, of course this is a possible scenario but the main idea behind poker plays is what the specific move gives you in the longterm. In the longterm open raise or 3bet 7 2 off will cost you chips.

This particular hand is both suited and has a straight potential so you can easily open raise it but be extra carefully in those $0.10 hypers. It is better to play strong hand and play abc poker.

Good Luck!
