my first "intake" is that i think the word you're looking for is "input" =P

and, well, why do you feel the need to overbet the pot? obviously it's not something that's usually recommended, and at the very least it's unorthodox. so what made you choose to overbet both the flop and turn?

...or simply "take". ^^

Anyway yeah, I don't get why we are overbetting the flop here - we're driving some hands we're way ahead of (and hence we want to be calling us) away.

wouldnt it be the right thing to do is to raise flop to drive out all fishs?

If your opponent has, let's say, A8 here, do you want them to call or fold?

I think your confusing the pre-flop with the flop betting. Raising to $.75 pre-flop was fine and is supposed to drive out other players. But you're not raising the flop, you're betting at it after your opponent checked. What the others are asking is why did you bet $2.50 into a $1.60 pot? This was a big overbet and will often chase away the opponents that you want calling you as a mistake (like A8, for example). Then on the turn you push all in for almost double the pot. Again, why the massive overbet?

Preflop = OK,
Flop bet OK, but the board has a developing draw. the J8 represent that draw. At this point I'm not tickled about letting villain see a cheap card, and I might be more tempted to make the big bet here. You did and he called.

So at this point what are you putting him on?

Turn is scary for us, under some circumstances it could be deadly for us. QT is a real possibility, even 10-7 but at this level less likely. In either case we could be toast.

If villain hit either of those, and is sitting with a made hand, how might he play it. If I were villain I would very likely slow play a made straight to the aggressor. In which case your shove could have been his goldmine.

As it works out that didn't happen. But your shove was too risky IMO. It's very possible you could have accomplished the same effect with a min bet on the turn. Villain is seeing the same board and the same concerns plague him. Did you make your hand? And villain might see the minbet as bait, and decide he aint the fishy today, and muck. Net result = same, total risk, much better.

Suppose villain comes back at your min raise. You made a conscious decision NOT to make the big bet believing you were far ahead. Villain is trying to rep the made straight, which you have already decided he doesn't have so at that point you can 3 bet it, and in most cases profit.

Given all this thinking, I don't have any problem with your betting. He could have been trapping with the draw, and your bet made him rethink.

The thing with QQ is that so many of us start the hand thinking 'we could take this all the way', given the right flop/turn/river. Under that train of thought, I think I could shove this easier at the flop, than at the river.
