villian, after 500 hands, has a vpip of 4 and a pfr of 1.1. what range do we need to call this raise pf? he also has a 40% showdown rate, so outplaying will be more difficult.

What you have is enough for a call. Also, any pocket pair, A-Q, and A-J.

You're the button so you have position on him, and he is raising from LP. So your hand is certainly, IMO, worth a call.

As for what range you need I can't give my opinion because I don't have PT so I don't understand those stats.

vpip of 4 means he's put money in the pot 4% of 500 hands (20 times) not counting BB's hes checked. he's also raised 1% of the 500 hands (5 times) which means he has either a very cold streak or only raises very premium hands.

If I though this chap only plays premium hands - I would raise with AA/KK and call with all other pp ( looking for trips ).

Everything else I fold. I think A/K o/s is more likely to get you in trouble than win you anything.

lol 1% pfr is even worse than Debi.

We can pretty safely put him on AA-KK, probably QQ, maybe AK. We're pretty crushed by this range. I actually think I'd rather be calling with T8s or something than AK here, as we are much less likely to get into big trouble given our opponent's range with the former.

I'd still probably call with AK having said all that though, but would proceed with the utmost caution.

With those stats, I would put him on a high PP.
I would call if I had planned on raising it preflop, lets say I planned on raising it by 3-4BB preflop, that would make it a raise of $1.50-$2 then villian made a bet I planned on putting in then I would call to see a flop, if no hit then fold.
probably not a good strategy, but that's the way I would play it.
