Real or play - does it matter? It's all about learning - right? No?

For you guys who post these a lot - how are you doing the hand conversion (from a pokerstars hand)? I can't get the CC hand converter to work, and haven't been able to find another one that works and that I can copy & paste to a CC forum thread.

"3. Use a hand converter (search the internet for "hand history converter", there are several, and they're free to use). Unconverted hand histories are much more difficult to read than converted hand histories. In addition, unconverted hands imply but don't state what the pot size is on each street - hand converters automatically display that important piece of information."

The difference between play money and NL1000 is astronomical, so yes, it matters.

Also, a typical NL1000 table hasn't had 6 players (including 5 shortstacks) with those stats since probably early 2006.

PokerTracker and Holdem Manager have built-in converters.

Thanks for the put-down. But, perhaps you could provide some useful info by answering my question about hand conversion. I didn't say that I had either HM2 or PT4.

1) Fold preflop. This is a junk hand. Anything below AJ or KQ should be a fold. You have T9o. Not even remotely good. You're just burning away money by calling preflop.
2) Bet the flop for a large amount like 80% pot. Don't slowplay. The way to win money against fish is to fastplay, not slowplay.
3) Raise much larger on the turn, at least 4x the size of his raise. Again, don't slowplay. Just bet hard and raise hard. The fish will pay you off.
4) Good to see you calling the river shove. Well done.

3) Click "export hand" in the bottom right corner of the replayer
4) Open up the hand to get a text document
5) Copy the text document
6) Go to this site: HandConverter
7) Choose output format as "Two Plus Two Forums"
8) Paste the text into "Hand History Here"
9) Click "Convert!"
10) Copy the output and paste it here

Maybe you should think first! I play 888 push and fold tables where you only need 50 to buy into their 5/10 games.

Anything below 100bb is considered "buying in short".

And TimovieMan has a point: play money is very soft compared to real money. You'll find that the lowest real money format (1c/2c blinds) is tougher than the highest play money format. We need to know what level you're playing at so that we can make different assumptions about the villains. The average villain at the low stakes play money is going to have a significantly different style of play to the average villain at the high stakes real money and thus we need to adjust to play exploitatively (value betting harder, letting them make calling mistakes).

The thing is too, hm2 only allows real money hands, so I don't know how someone would get stats like these if it was fake money.

-This hand
-Your poker game
-The best advice you'll get in this thread.

In that order.

I love this guy! Seriously man you crack me up sometimes. 😆

Now for something equally as helpful. First off don't limp preflop. If you're willing to get into a pot make someone have to pay to play you. Typically 2.5-3bb is a good opening bet.

Secondly @ Matt (I think?) you were looking for a free converter. http://www.flopturnriver.com This one is free and you can convert specifically for cards chat.

Third, I don't know what the hell this is but it's certainly not 1000nl cash. Read some books. The first one I recommend is poker for dummies. Not meant as an insult. It's a very good book for beginners.

I guess you didn't read the comment where I said I was playing 5/10 push and fold tables at 888 then.

Nope I didn't but if you want to continue to burn money buying in short and paying rediculous rakes, go for it!
