Just wondering if I should have value bet the river here against a somewhat loose average aggressive player.

Poker Stars - $0.02/$0.05 No Limit Hold'em (9 players)
Poker Stars Hand Converter Tool from CardsChat.com
SB: $8.53
BB: $4.22
UTG: $12.50
MP: $11.82
MP+1: $6.79
MP+2: $1.18
LP: $2.01
CO: $3.93
BTN Hero: $4.63
Pre-flop: ($0.07) Hero is BTN and dealt :jh4: :qh4:
6 folds, Hero raises $0.15, SB folds, BB calls $0.10
Flop: ($0.32) :as4: :kh4: :10h4: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.25, BB calls $0.25
Turn: ($0.82) :as4: :kh4: :10h4: :4h4: (2 players)
BB bets $0.15, Hero raises $0.80, BB calls $0.65
River: ($2.42) :as4: :kh4: :10h4: :4h4: :5h4: (2 players)
BB checks, Hero checks

Was I better of just using caution here or did I miss out on some money.

You've got the 2nd nuts vs a loose player, value bet! People hate laying down flushes :)

Played well apart from that IMO.

Now this hand is my speciality. You missed out on the potential of his entire stack. Raise the flop to $1.00, call any shoves, and try to continue the aggression till his stack is in the middle. Hopefully all-in on or by the turn. Instant profit.

imo the value bet is not very good vs an agressive player because he may have all kind of cards so an A of hearts is possible on his range of hands...So be careful...

When villain checks into you he is rarely checking with the nuts so go for the value bet.

I don't mind the cautious check, at least you get to see what he was playing, (which you didn't actually tell us).

Before value betting I would consider what might actually be able to call the value bet.
And also consider what you would do if your value bet were massively raised.

The 15cent lead out on the turn looks like a drawing hand trying to get a cheap card. But the 9 of hearts for a flush is unlikely. Q or J for a str8 would also be a little strange.
So perhaps the reverse, a pair or 2 hoping to see no draw completing hands on the river.

I don't think many hands without a heart would pay much value off with the 4 hearts on the board.
And given that you know the K,Q,J and 10 are all out of the running, really the only card that should be interested in playing with you would be the Ace of hearts.
So I would think that you would probably have more to lose than you could hope to gain by betting at that point.

This. If BB has the Ah good for him...if he does though i'll eat my hat.

Pretty easy bet imo.. I think lots of worse flushes are calling, even someone who cant fold a set or 2 pair, especially at 5nl

If only there was a hands analysis section in this forum where you could post your hands instead of posting where they don't belong

Oh, wait...

Im surprised at people here. At micro stakes I wouldn't expect many people to be checking the nuts. Im always betting.

I would bet it because that .15 raise on the turn seems like a weak raise. Only reason I would check it would be to see why he was calling the enormous reraise.

Learned a couple of interesting things from the comments here. Firstly, post hand analysis in the hand analysis section. Second, I am regretting not betting after someone mentioned players likely not checking the nuts on the river in micos. I felt he could have had an Ace as the way it was played. I think looking back, I would be a bit more aggressive from the get go and fire hard on the river. That 4th heart kind of made me timid in the heat of battle. Maybe because I had such a "lock" at the beggining which didn't seem as good with that river.
