4 handed you should definately raise the 5's preflop.
As played, I would raise the flop to at least $3, your giving him over 3 to 1 with your raise size on a dangerous board. The larger raise on the flop should be enough to set you up for a shove on the turn where the effective stacks will be right around the size of the pot.

Def want to raise this PF next time..as played, I would probably fold the river, given the pot size & his bet.

are you aware that the turn and the river are both complete blanks (except for 3,4) I don't ever ever ever ever ever fold on that river, even against the nittiest guys

biggest mistake you made: folding a set at 10nl

Your bet on 4th st as you pointed out was bad, overall its what made you fold on the river. That bet as you know could have been called by any hand, this confused you on the river when two straights were made Though i do not now the exact odds ( some1 here should ), your odds that your opponent held 7,9 2,3 or even an over set ( the only hands that beat you ) are low enough for you to call. Wish I could figure out the math but making folds like that will hurt your long term equity. Good luck at the tables.
