I was delt pocket queens in middle position, and was wondering what you guys thought of my play. My only real read was, I had the guy pegged as a pretty loose player, he had a VP$P of 62 after 50 hands.

You might have done well to 4-bet that preflop and eliminate some opponents right there.

I like your raise on the flop but would have raised a little more, to more like $1.40. When the button went all in he's likely to have a set or lucked into a straight (being a loose preflop player) rather than something like an overpair since he just called preflop. Top pair is unlikely with all the action in front of him.

Recently I realized that I've been getting stacked with top pair and overpairs more often than I should, so my inclination might be to fold there. What hands could he reasonably hold that you could beat? Probably only JJ, with an outside chance of AT. The Q on the river is irrelevant since it's an all in situation before that. If he had a set you got lucky.

Just for fun, I'm going to guess he hit his miracle flop with J9 suited....

At these limits I'm 4-betting pretty large here preflop, because you'll still get called by these types of players. I'd say a raise to at least $1.20 or so would be fine.

Just to point out something else, you are playing with a stack of around 250bb's and other players in the pot are 200bb's+. This is referred to as playing deep stack and creates a different dynamic in the game. It also effects the hands other people can call your raises with if they think the implied odds are bigger than they might be in a standard 100bb online cash game. I'm not saying that many players at .01/.02 are actually thinking about it, but it should be something that you consider.

When you move up to 10NL+ the usual maximum buy-in is 100bb's, so it may be a better idea to get used to playing with those stack sizes as opposed to buying in for 250bb's which is offered at the lower micro-limits.

Im no expert but I think you played that hand OK. As others said you could of probably reraised to eliminate a few players, personally I wouldnt feel comfortable with 4 players in that pot. However flat calling and seeing a cheap flop isn't all that bad. Another thing is at that limit players are generally fishy and frequently call raises with weak hands, so you could of probably got away with increasing your initial raise to limit the amount of callers. Hope this helped. Joe.

Thanks guys, so to sum it up; I probably should have 4bet the flop, and bet a bit more post flop? You are pretty darn close roundcat, he had 92c. I love having guys like him at the table. I think later in the game i made what i lost here, and more, back from him. Thanks again guys.

That's exactly the right attitude. It's hard to believe so many people complain about these guys! I'd love for him call my preflop raises with 92 all day, every day.
