Reads on players -

BTN is a crazy man. He rarely folds pre-flop and likes to splash around after the flop if he hit any piece of it. I do have a serious problem with him here though because his favorite hand is Q,10. If he had Q,10 pre-flop he'd have played it no matter how much the raise was. Of course the 2s scares me to death because it's very possible he called the bet on the flop with a flush draw.

BB is harder to read. Rarely have I seen him show down anything but a quality hand. I think it's likely he has pocket kings or jacks, both of which I can beat.

I feel like the best thing I can do here is cut my losses and fold. At this point I'm getting about 3.5 to 1 on a call. I'm just worried that the only prayer I have of winning this hand is a board pair on the river.

I already know where things went bad in this hand - I should have re-raised on the flop. My question here is did I play the hand properly pre-flop and is it find to fold on the turn?

I don't play these stakes so TFWIW

I don't see as you can get away from a top set hand as there are ton of hands that are in these players ranges that you crush other than Q10, AK, AQ, and AJ all come to mind as does KK or QQ. so in this case I just pot bet the flop and shove the turn even when the spade comes off as you will have done two things with a big flop bet, committed yourself to the hand and priced out the flush.

i think because of the fact that btn is reckless u have to fold because he could have numerous hands. i think u just got to say no matter what its not terrible even if u folded the best hand

wasnt it better if u had re-raised much on flop ? so maybe u can fold the guys that runs after a flush or even for an inside str8 and top pair as A 10 ( just askin' )

As I said in my original post, I know it was a mistake not to re-raise on the flop. The point of me posting this hand was to see what others felt about he pre-flop raise and whether or not a fold on the turn is justifiable.

Your 4Bet preflop has to be bigger, probably should raise it to around $40-45 or so. By doing this the hand is much easier to play and makes all your decisions a whole lot easier.

As played, I think you have to call this everytime. The pot is wayyyy to big to justify folding and you have redraws if your behind, which you may not be.

I agree with calling.
And I don't know about preflop, depends on how much they are willing to call I guess, also I am not familiar with this limit or home games.

Flop is obvious and turn is still a call imo..

why are we calling the flop? (yeah i know the point has been raised and answered but it really can't be stressed enough that calling the flop lead is horrible)

we 4-bet more pre and jam the flop and we don't have to make questionable turn decisions here while still getting value from AJ/KJ/JJ/random spades and suchlike.

basically, what the people above me said. :p

why are we calling the flop?

Because, clearly, I suck at teh pokah.

At the time, Q,10 was flashing in big, bold hot pink letters in my head and to be honest, I chickened out.

Anyway, after I thought for about 5 minutes, I finally folded.

As I suspected, BB had pocket jacks.

BTN had Q, 10 (with the 10 of spades) for a made straight and a flush draw.

The river a meaningless 3 of hearts and the straight took down the pot.

Even though I was beat on the flop, I know I severly misplayed this hand. Hell, even though the fold on the turn was right in the end because of the results, I still don't think it was the actual RIGHT decision. I think this hand exposed me as a very weak, tight player.

folding is the best thing to do more often than not... most rookies wont fold any decent hand... if theres something you dont liek about the hand fold. its more profitable in the long run n e way
