poker stars, $1/$2 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 4 Players
LeggoPoker.com - Hand History Converter
BTN: $262.60
Hero (SB): $291.95
BB: $455
UTG: $255.65
Pre-Flop: Tc Kc dealt to Hero (SB)
UTG calls $2, BTN folds, Hero raises to $8, BB folds, UTG calls $6
Flop: ($18) 8c 3s Ks (2 Players)
Hero bets $14, UTG calls $14
Turn: ($46) Ac (2 Players)
Hero bets $22, UTG calls $22
River: ($90) 8s (2 Players)
Hero checks, UTG bets $55
Hero: ????

Villain is 35/13/1. I'm 30/20/2 not doing anything out of line. I raised because KTs is a decent hand and Villain only limped (albeit UTG). Given that he calls my ¾ pot bet on the flop and ½ pot on the turn does it indicate he has at worst and A and at best a spade draw which hits on the river? Is this a fold?

Thank you,
Red Dawn

yes, definate fold, With no straight draws on board, there is no chance this is a missed draw. I cant see any hand you beat here betting the river. Villain either has flush draw, an 8 or an ace so definate fold imo

Up to river, the rest of your play was standard

First off, I dont like raising PF in bad position without a great hand, it sets up these scenerios far to often. I also cannot see what you are beating here. What did he call with K9? I dont see what he would be calling with the entire time that you beat unless he had some master plan to steal on the river, which is highly unlikely. the river card gave him his straight and trips if he was playing middle pair, which i doubt. This is a clear fold.

Firstly, it is four handed, so a raise with k,t is acceptable

secondly, would you care to explain how the river completed the straight???

Yeah I meant flush, and I know it is four handed but Id rather raise with any two cards in position than KT out of position. KT is a good hand four handed i agree but unless this guy has folded when raised in the past I dont think its a good move. Position is key and raising from the SB 4handed with a limper I just dont like the play.

^^^ Very true, i suppose it all just comes down to reads/playing style/ villains stats/ your stats, on whether its worth bloating the pot or not, i think raising, calling and folding all have their good and bad points, i really don't know what the best option is, folding is definately the safest and may very well be the best
