I am UTG with AK. The player has a very tit range so i immedaitly feared that he could have a set. I bet the flop to see where i was, i hit the ace on the turn. Was it a bad turn bet? ANd then i check called the river. How could i have improve my play in this hand. When deep stacked what should my pfr be 3/3.5/4 times the blinds? Thanks

Well, villain called $7 to set mine and got $53 from you. That's a bit less than 8 to 1, so it's a reasonably cheap outcome for you.

Could i played the hand differently, a way to cut down on my losses or something?

It's not always easy to get a read on your villain--but consider what his read on your might have been...
It's clear you're betting on TPTK/overpair--he would have at least read that when he's calling each time and finally betting on the river; so whatever he had, he knew he could beat your TPTK/overpair.

I don't think so. In poker you should think in ranges of hands as opposed to single hands. Don't look at this hand and start playing TPTK passively because of it. You easily could have been up against draws, smaller pocket pairs, worse aces, floats...

As a side note, I think another option is to take a bet-check-bet line since I think most of your opponent's range is middle pairs that won't necessarily call that turn bet, but may call a smallish river bet thinking you're making a weird bluff.

what you advocate is a bet-bet-check/fold line? That's really weak. When OOP, you will get pushed out from winning hands way too often if you fold when villain bets your first check.
