Umm it's more of a value bet than anything else I guess, seeing as we're expecting quite a wide range of weaker hands to call. It's not a c-bet or semibluff by definition, and it's not a blocking bet because if villain has any hand that is better than ours he'd be an idiot not to raise (edit: well straight maybe but meh, 'tis not very likely).

i think we could perhaps open a new category for it though - a "ohgodihopeidontgetraised" bet, perhaps?

definite value bet - not a C-bet (although it may look like one to the opponent), not a blocking bet (a monster hand will raise you still), and not a semi-bluff, because even though its possible for better hands to exist, in a rational game Hero's hand should be the best, so there's no real bluff element.

After thinking about it it could possibly be a blocking bet. Obviously if he has the nut flush he is going to reraise, but if he has a straight or lesser flush (without the King) he might just call your bet. If you check a lesser flush or straight will certainly sense weakness and bet out.

Still, I think value bet is more "correct".

I think value bet, simply because it doesn't fit any of the other categories. It seems more to me to be a bet to see where you are.... a 1/2 pot sized feeler bet  .... yeah value bet sounds most right.

Value bet because...

Continuation is usually a bet you make which is a little larger than the previous bet you make. It establishes a statement you are making about your hand.

When the river came, Hero's bet was not a continuation or a block bet he had to make a stand and show he still had a hand so he couldn't check, that would give MP1 the advantage. He bet in case MP1 didn't have the flush then MP1 would just call or fold . It also wasn't a semi-bluff bet because he had been betting strongly all along and had established this all the way to the river.

I was feeling like it was a value bet - but willing to admit not really sure.

blocking bet

well its really between value and blocking bet,

he is either betting small in hopes we will reraise and he can push with his flush.

or he is betting smallish hoping we will just call and he can showdown his weak hand cheap.

I picked later but again its a toss up
