Villian played 11 hands and saw 9 flops. When he sat down there were 8 players. The game is breaking up, so now we are 3 handed.

Very strange flow here. A min-raise, a min-bet, a check-call, and a huge bet. I had position on him, but I couldn't put him on a hand. I thought he was trapping the flush, so I didn't raise the flop. Then I thought he feared the flush, so I tried to rep the flush or trip 5's on the turn, but couldn't shake him. Then to complicate things, I hit a wheel on the river. Was his river bet a bluff, a weak hand like top pair, or something better? How did I do up to the river?

I couldn't lay this down without a very strange and specific read. I'd call and be happy that I'm playing properly bankrolled. ;)

Wow. Well, I kind of think he's played it (in a weird way) sort of like either TT or AK hearts. At the same time, he could be a dummy with only the A of hearts and an offsuit K or some other card that isn't meaningful. In this case he made the min-bet on the flop hoping to see a cheap turn card, and checked the turn when no heart came. The problem that arises here is that there's really no way he should have called your turn bet with just the Ah considering the board just paired so his flush might not even be good if he makes it, he's not getting the right price at all, and he's out of position so maximizing profit is very difficult. But then his river push looks like it could be a desperate whiffed draw..... or one of the aforementioned monsters.

I still think something like TT or a flopped flush seems somewhat more likely, but it'd be difficult to fold here at these limits. I'd be really very surprised if his river bet was with something like top pair... his line would make almost no sense at all for holding just one T and even at .10/.25 most players aren't quite that bad.

Is this the first of the 9 hands he's played that he's minraised pre-flop?

Maybe if I changed my name to "Hott_Sticker", I'd get more responses. 2 replies in 2 days? Is this such a stupid hand to post? This is why I think I'm done posting HH's here. I'm not sure if I should take this personally or not. I hardly get any chat at the CC events, either. Am I perceived as that cold? Am I perceived as a jerk or something?

If it weren't for 2 or 3 people here who dare to give me the time of day, I might be done with this entire place too. I'm sorry if I don't want to share my personal problems with people I have never met. Maybe if I made one up, I'd get a ton of responses. Maybe then people would joke with ME about wearing a dress. But that would be low.

Anyway, here's the damn results if anyone gives a rip:

Ouch - no much you can do there. Tough one MrSticker! Even knowing the results here, based on the read I still say call. You can look at it this way, the turn AND the river screwed you. If the turn was any other card than one that paired the board you win, and if the river is any other card than the duece on the river you fold :(

Heh, it's like he realized after calling the turn that "crap, I'm out of position - what if he checks behind?! I must bet!"

Ugh. Didn't see that coming. I would be totally baffled, myself. I think you played it fine. Just one of those things...

Haha, exactly. I see this pretty often at these levels.

tbh I didn't respond because I really wasn't sure what I would have done in this situation. I suppose it would depend on my reads on villain.

I don't think there's anything wrong with calling; I hate these hands where the line just doesn't make sense. I usually end up calling in weird situations like this if my hand's strong enough; here I probably go broke aswell.

Stick Man,

I haven't posted in this thread because I haven't got a clue what our move is here.

The thing with really bad players (which I'd suggest villain is) is that they play so strangely, and make plays so out-of-character with the hand that you have a hell of a job putting them on a hand sometimes, especially when you/he has just sat down and you have no reads. This hand is just so strange!

I think you'll see a huge hand or nothing at all most of the time here, but who's to say villain isn't making this play with AT/KT or a relatively weak trips?

A somewhat recurring problem here is the better a hand is that someone posts, the fewer responses you will get simply because people have no clue what to do, but can't bring themselves to 'fess up to this. :)
