Preflop: Hero is BB with Kc As
2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.40, 5 folds, Hero raises to $1.20, MP1 calls $0.80
Flop: ($2.45) 7c Kh 8h (2 players)

Final Board: 7c Kh 8h 9d 5h
Hero mucked Kc As and lost (-$10.50 net)
MP1 showed 8c 8s and won $20 ($9.50 net)
Stats of Villain: VPIP 17% PFR 14% Agg 1.3% 3-bet 7.3%
C-bet was also 100% (although only from 4 examples) (would this count as a C-bet if I've re-raised? I'm guessing not, but wouldn't mind being certain as he was initial raiser.)
In hindsight this hand seems clumsy. Was trying to let him bet into me for value, but by the last street was quite uneasy about calling; but still uncertain. Had him on AQ and it stuck in my head to be honest. Given his stats I didn't think a 3-bet call with a mid pocket pair pre flop was in his range. Anyone have any idea how I should have dealt with this hand? Was I right or wrong? Furthermore, how right or wrong was I?
Thanks
*EDIT*: Looking at it again there was a lot more that could've cracked me than I initially realised in the moment of the hand; he may have had hearts or pocket 6s. Although as mentioned, I wasn't putting 6s in his range, and calling a 3-bet purely on suits seems unlikely, bar high suited cards.
