You should post stats/ villain's tendencies. Without reads i'm fine with the check raise on the flop. I would bet again on the turn, villain can call with lots of worse hands pairs/draws etc. but if you're checking the turn you should be doing so with the intention of checkraising all in barring very specific reads. You don't wanna just call given how wet the board is (lots of bad cards can come) and folding is far too nitty.

I would pay him off if he has already the goods.

On the turn, i will prepare my chips to go all, in the middle.

Please check raise again in this spot. There are so many draws out there that can get there on the river.

After check raising the flop i would personally have lead out with a strong bet because we do not want to give villain a free card, so want to make him pay if he has a draw or with two pair or worse hands.

We have a very strong hand here so we should be looking to extract more value so i prefer a raise with our set.:p

Thats what happened:
After his bet on turn, i shoved and he called:
The river was Qs, he mocked his KJo and I took the pot.

However, I realize that checking on that turn was a BIG MISTAKE, never again

I would have led out on the flop with the set and keep the aggression going all the way through.

Well is a good hand sometimes you have to lay down sets is just what it is.

Do need more information on villain but I was sure he had hit aq at that point.

Now at this point it depends how my day is going how cards are treating me. Usually I bring what dont mind TO BURN light on fire so to speak but a couple losses of buy ins I walk each time always. Is just my individual rules. Would be done with ring for day.

So many factors but if guy was idiot as some suggested yes would have came over top at turn. Problem is got to know will they chase etc..

Will say I always have motto to live another day in ring etc.. is always better hands when have nutts.

So say am hott cards are holding as this did for you ive sat table 2 hours up 8-10 bucks? AUTO shove lol. If losing people are catching seems to me with that board is more how it plays out they would hit a 98 spade with river flush haha I would have folded so is a lot more thinking involved for me.

I think you did great but could have played better and if had more information how cards were treating you was river TOTALLY your nemesis like was mine yesterday and the players notes I had etc.. would determine totally what would have done here.

P.S. the one note is that even with aq you would hit board 1 out of 4 times for boat. I believe is the stat so how are cards running etc.. really want to know more on villian but overall shoving on turn is usually right move here and agree with many on board.

Yet as said at times I will toss.

I am more concerned if that J had been an A, 9 or spade.

Sure AQ is in his range but call .34 on a gutshot?

AQ and Q9 are just never in his range here.

Lead the turn and get it in where possible.

Well AQss maybe is.

But I think if he as that we just have to say GG and move on, with the strength of our hand.
