He had a very interesting session, curious about how you guys think my analysis is.

Anyway I'll follow the same format he did and just do 5 hands a post.

Limp UTG is fine, fold is safe. Flop check + half pot bet smell like a pp or weak ace. Villains bet is pretty small however (less than half pot). Don't totally mind a call but wouldn't call a second bet..fold is most likely best.

Interesting limp in MP1, although I'm thinking it probably would have been better to raise this pre if you plan to cbet an empty flop. Easy fold once your flop bet is flat called…he’s not doing that with anything you can beat.

Limp UTG is fine, fold is safe. Flop check + half pot bet smell like a pp or weak ace. Villains bet is pretty small however (less than half pot). If he had more cash in his stack I probably would call this because 1) I might not actually be behind and 2) if he has an ace catching an 8 could stack him for cheap. If he is just making a stab that is such a weak stab he might just check down rest of the way if he gets any action as well.
You do realize an A has us beat even if we hit an 8, right? 8s full of Aces loses to Aces full of 6s. With this many people in the pot I really don't mind the fold, because as mentioned we could be drawing dead and facing a river bet. This is most likely a pot-building attempt and I don't see any reason to call here.

I agree. I don't like the flop bet without any kind of draw. We are literally betting on our opponent folding, and the fact that it was limped preflop means he could call us down with any pair or even an under pocket pair. Without a read we can't afford to double barrel this and if we don't plan to double barrel I don't like the flop bet without some kind of draw.

Ouch, villain smooth calls AA out of the blind and of course you hit on the river. The safe play would be to fold when he reraises you on the flop.... I don't think I like the call that much. You don't have any draws and the only thing you beat is a bluff... I think you gotta shove the flop or fold it here OR call with the intention of shoving the turn, a shove should get rid of someone playing back at a perceived blind steal and alot of mediocre hands. Simply calling his check-raise sorta screws you and lets a good hand milk you like this one did for more. As played the Ace + the pot size makes the call on the end a no-brainer.

Villain’s bet pattern is very strange though.. I would probably be worried about a set or even quads a little although he could easily just be playing back at a perceived blind steal, I wouldn’t expect to see AA very often. I definitely like the call on the end after hitting the ace as opposed to a raise. Did any reads on this guy affect this hand?

If we are going to play A4 against the BB wouldn’t it be better to raise it pre? Don't mind an occasional limp just for variance but wouldn't do it very often.

A little weak with a solid hand and position against only the SB preflop. Postflop fold is ok.

Duh, good catch zac. I typed my comments up last night and for some reason that thought popped into my head just now as I was copying it over to the forums. comment edited back to original status.

Why call with that at all? I would generally just toss rags like that even in the SB without multiple limpers.

$6 is maybe a tad too much but it probably wouldn’t matter (“Standard” would be $5 here). A little less maybe you get one caller.

I’m being kinda nit-picky there though.

Raise PF and cbet postflop is fine, but I don't understand why you called here. I'm thinking you either have to fold here or come over the top if you have him on a steal. If you call you have no idea where you're at and still have 6 outs to hit a hand that you don't even know is good when you hit it (as happened).

If we are going to play A4 against the BB wouldn’t it be better to raise it pre? Don't mind an occasional limp just for variance but wouldn't do it very often.
What he said, I'd raise preflop here, of course reads help. If this is a really loose passive player I like your play, but I would lean towards a preflop raise here to pick up the blinds and if you fail you've still got a decent hand that could hit a flop with top pair or flush draw (we can't get married to top pair, but heads up we can basically assume it's good until villain shows otherwise.

I agree. I don't like the flop bet without any kind of draw. We are literally betting on our opponent folding, and the fact that it was limped preflop means he could call us down with any pair or even an under pocket pair. Without a read we can't afford to double barrel this and if we don't plan to double barrel I don't like the flop bet without some kind of draw.

guys, flop bet in the second hand posted is completely standard. you do realize the only other guy in the hand is the BB? that means his range is any two cards, and it's weighted towards non-pairs because he didn't raise, just checked his option. the fact that we have virtually no showdown value is MORE reason to bet instead of checking

he has no pair about 65% of the time. assume he's only going to make some weird move with air 5% of the time (or even 10%) and betting pot is instantly profitable. we don't need to double barrel for it to be profitable. however, on this board i think tenbob should have bet less than pot. he's either got you and he's calling, or he's got nothing and folding. pot bet is still profitable but it's unneededly excessive

now, i wouldn't open limp to begin with but that's a whole nother thing

Yeah this way my main point. Never said I didn't like the cbet even with the limp.

Overall I really like your style. It's pretty much the same TAG style I would normally want to play (that post on my session notwithstanding ). Very solid play overall.

The only comments I really have to make are that in a couple of spots it felt to me like you bet slightly too much in a spot where we wanted a caller. That AK also got you into a bunch of trouble although I'm wondering about any reads you may have had on that hand in particular or what your exact thinking was.

This whole session swap idea is a great one. I'd love to see more of this on these forums.

Comments welcome! Curious how you think my analysis was (tenbob and anybody else who wants to offer their .02)

Thanks for the comments, I didnt tell you anything about that AK hand because i wanted some comments. Villian was a total loose maniac, and playing 85/25/8 (or something insane) and I felt that calling down light was an option here, even if i didnt hit the river. He had previously made this play with KQo and got caught.

More of a question than a comment; how often do you fire a second barrel here TB? Or anyone? Or is it read dependent?

I used to be willing to three barrel on occasion but most recently I'm playing with too many calling stations so even 2 has pretty much gone out the window.

The reason I double barrel here is because hes short. Most short stack players will happly shove on my c-bet and hope to be called with most of my raising range. Gonna assume hes on a draw, or UI overs enough to make this profitable. + I'd seen him fold this spot before.

In defence of this. This is really going into another level of thinking on it. IF strong is weak and weak is strong. I want to act strong so my opponents read me as weak. In otherwords im acting like im bluffing by pretending that im not. Youd be suprised on how often this actually works, dont try it on nl$25 though.

I actually considered this but don't really have the experience at the levels you are playing to know how effective it is there. I know it's pointless at $25 lol.

Tenbob, I only read the first set of 5 hands but here's my opinion. First hand with 88 you played perfectly fine. Early position 66-88 aren't quite strong enough to raise but they are too good to fold. And against this many opponents you really need to flop a set or have a flop of all lower cards to continue. So good check check fold. For the second hand with 7 8 suited I don't like how you played this one at all. In middle position this is a folding hand. The only time a hand like this is playable in MP, IMO, is when a few people limp in front of you then you can limp also. And on the flop, I don't like your continuation bet because you didn't represent strength preflop so it's not as likely to work, and the pot is so small it's not worth a bluff. Third hand you played fine KQ os is normally a folding hand in EP. Fourth hand with A8 os you played fine but I think a 3x BB raise is slightly better than 4x. If they fold to a 4x BB raise they would probably fold to a 3x bb raise as well, and if one of them happened to get a real hand and put in a big raise, you can fold and save $1 by raising 3x.

Blind battle! Pretty standard if slightly large c-bet that did the job, looks good.

If we are going to play A4 against the BB wouldn’t it be better to raise it pre? Don't mind an occasional limp just for variance but wouldn't do it very often.

First hand with AK the pot was around $8 going to the flop, he checks and you bet $6. I think a better bet is $4-$5. And when he raised you I have no idea why you called, did you think he was making a play on you? You should have folded on the flop. The second hand you had suited KQ and one limper, I think it's better to limp here as well instead of raise. If it was folded to you then raising is better. Postflop you played fine, you had 3 callers and missed the flop so not a good time to continuation bet. Next hand with Ace rag on the button nice raise. On the flop though, he checked so it's a good idea to bet here, the texture of the flop is good but I don't like the amount you bet. Pot was $6 you bet $6, that's too much IMO, a better bet is $3-$4. A smaller bet accomplishes the same thing a smaller one does and saves you money if he were to check raise. For the next two hands you had very strong hands for a HU situation but you didn't raise preflop in either hand. You should raise with Ace - X and 77.

Not much i can really add to the analysis of the hands, although i have a piece of advice.

You play a solid TAG game which works very well for you, but when t comes to blind vs blind you suddenly change to Loose-passive. You limp/checked wiith a pp and an ace in blind vs blind, then let both go on flop.

Both of those hands were likely best so why not raise while we are favourite rather than checking. Although it is only $1.50 up for grabs, they do all build up.

You also dont seem to believe it when your opponents bet in blind vs blind. Just curious as to whether that is a recurring thing where you call down light in this situation, or whether it was just read dependant in the situation above

I think that it comes down to choice when playing hands like 88/77 from the blinds. Taking down a small pot isnt really my objective here, limping a hand like 77 from the sb can have some wonderful effects if the bb raise/steals, or if you flop a set. Im really looking to let him flop second best lots. Allways on the hunt for stacks.

^^^ fair enoguh then, from that perspective, the way you play the blinds is fine
