Tuff decision I doubt he called preflop with a 5-x. The only hand that makes sense for him to have is KJ, no other K-X hand makes sense, AK would have raised preflop any other king besides KJ would have folded before the river. I guess it's possible he's a bad player and called you down with KQ. You're getting like 2.5:1 so I'd call.

good thoughts bentheman, i was thinking maybe A Jd, but it would be hard to bet 10 on 2nd pair. so more likely KJ

bet like $6 on the river. It has various advantages to checking.

1) acts as a block bet, in situations where villian might try a big bluff.
2) acts as a value bet when you have the best hand.

I also prefer checking the turn. Beacause you have no idea where you are at on a scary river. By checking the turn you essentially give your opponent the initiative which is good in this situation as it means he will have to decide wether his hand is strong enough for a bet.

You gain more information by checking to villian on the turn than betting. The more info you have the easier it is to maximize value.

turn bet is very standard. you gain more information by betting than checking.. that should be pretty obvious. if you check and he bets... um, okay, now wtf does he have? is he just betting because he thinks you gave up your cbet? if you bet he has to either call or raise. either of those gives you more information. more importantly, you gain more value from your hand which is overwhelmingly likely to be ahead

river check can be fine if you think he'll bet his missed flush draw. the less likely you think that scenario is, the more you can just bet whatever you think a J will call. as played, i'd call

KdQd is a possible hand even A5suited, though both unlikely considering the preflop call but nothing else really makes sense here unless he limped with JJ/55 and is slowplaying you by letting you bet into him.
BTW what are you Poker Tracker stats on yourself as this may be very important as villian may also have PT and has you pegged as a compulsive c-bettor.
If you don't have PT then you have to ask yourself if this is a play that would make you predictable.
Because IMO, the stats you have on yourself are as(if not more) important than the stats you have on the table because you have to assume that other poker players also have PT and you may be up against one of them.
Villian bets 2/3rd the pot on the river($10 of his remaining $14).
IMHO, I would fold this on the river because I think he has hit his K and is calling any push you make here as he has pot commited himself.

if you're uncertain about what to do given that you've checked and he's bet the river here, you should definitely be bet-folding.

doesn't have to be a float. he can bet with a flush draw/any pocket pair/any J/A high that he called with because he thought it was the best hand. or yeah, could even be a 5. the better question is "how many 25nlers don't like to fold?" just bet the turn. you're crushing his range and a draw is out, why do you want to check? are you that afraid of the 5? would you want to check if one of the 5s was a 7?

I called and he flipped over KJ, still not really sure what to do with this one totally readless. I guess a blocking bet would be better here and then fold to a shove.
