Hi I'm new to these forums and had a question.
A little earlier tonight I folded KK preflop, heres the scenario:

0.10/0.25 $25 max buy-in NL Holdem cash game.

Full handed, everyone folds to me.
I have KK and $30, I raise to $1.00.
The guy after me goes all in for $50.
I took all my time then folded the hand.

Afterwards he said he accidentally hit max instead of pot when he bet and he actually had 8/8. At least thats what he said.
In any case, whats your opinions on my play?
I figured, shit he comes back over the top for $50?? Must be Aces!
I'd appreciate any thoughts on this, thanks.

Going over the top for that much with aces is NOT a smart move. I'd've called. It's alright to fold though, it's not like you lost a ton of money or anyting. Nothing wrong with waiting for a better spot really

IMHO, your fold was not a good one, you were only up against one player here.
If you had raised pre-flop, had another player re-raise that and a following player go all-in, then the chances are greater in that situation that one of the players are holding AA.
But going up against one player here and your holding KK, there is a very good chance that you have him beat and should have called because there is only one hand that really beats you here.

Wowww. I'm not going to sugarcoat it. This is an absolutely terrible fold and it makes my soul ache

Nothing except EVERYTHING. You have pocket kings in a cash game after ONE RE-RAISE which is begging to not be called! Positions hardly even matter, callcallcall. The wishy washy advice is not helping anyone, guys. This is a bad fold so say so

Just to add some actual reasoning, even though it should be obvious.. even if he'd done this raise on purpose, this would be QQ, JJ, AK (especially AK) about 20 times more often than it would be AA. AA wants value, not to scare everyone (even kings, lol) out of the hand

I'm going to stab the next person who says this in ring game HA. :p This isn't a tournament, you should be taking every edge you can, there should be no "waiting for a better spot".

Sure, some people will shove AA here for whatever reason, but it's just as likely to be AK or a few lower pairs.

So yeah, it's a horrible fold. Still, you live and learn. :)

have to call there... yea I'd think about it too for a second but I'm not folding that hand. AK is the most likely of hands, which is a ridiculous push. Did you tell him after the hand you folded KK? Or did he just flat out say he folded 88. If you told him you have KK, he might have been lieing if he had AA. Bad fold either way, but you learn as you go.

This a ring game. And at low stakes too. That should have been a call in a heartbeat. Even if he did have As you still had outs. If you are not going to play with that hand in that position then you shouldn't have been playing at those lmits.

I think i only folded KK preflop in a ring game once.

I 3-raised a guy, he minraised my raise, i reraised againa nd he minraised, we were both at triple buyins so i folded.

And the only reason i folded it that time was coz same happened a day earlier with a whole bunch of reraises and i shoved and guy had aces.

When a guy goes allin like that its rarely aces, aces want to isolate but not scare away people. Its a lot more probable that its AK or QQ-JJ-TT....

I have folded KK once and only once.

sitting at a $1/$2 live game at the Taj, guy I had been sitting with for about 10 hours open raised and I came over the top with KK guy in MP called and the dude shoved in for about $80 more. I stood up didnt know what to do, not only did I have to worry about him but also had to worry about guy in MP. I looked at him and said I have a big hand, he looked at me and said no I have the big hand, I told him you dont understand I have a real big hand, he looked at me and said no you dont understand I have the big hand.

now this guy was not a bad player, he was a TAG and I mucked my KK and guy in mp called I think with 99 and dude flipped AA and I was sooo happy.

but in general no you dont fold unless you have a stone cold read on someone like I had on him.

never fold KK to ppl you dont know, only way i can see you folding AA is if you have a guy who only reraise with KK+ and you are sure he only reraise with KK+. In general i never fold KK to a raise like that.
