These situation seems to come up a lot for me, sometimes i make great calls and other times i make terrible ones! These situation happen most in the 6 Max 100NL games that i play.

1) Can i get some advise about how i should approach playing pocket pairs OPP and/or against a blind steal. As with this case i did not re-raise to take control because i had already re-raised him a few hands ago a feared a re-pop, regardless of whether he hand a hand or not.

2) I knew i had him beat on the flop and turn but felt it would be more profitable to just check call. Is this a sound strategy?

3) Where did i go wrong?

Cheers.

What range to you have him on to call the river bet? It looks like a pretty standard button raise, with a decent hand in position. He happened to hit his straight draw, along with two overs that would have been good. As you can really only beat a bluff, the 1/2 pot river bet looks like it's more for value than a bluff. I'm not a great fan of your flop call, being OOP, but a fold on the river would have been a much better move..not because of his hand, but because of his c/bet, turn check, and then value bet on the end.

But a Cbet, turn check an the river bet can also mean weakness, i.e. trying a standard Cbet, checking behind me because he fears a call or check raise and then the river (possible bluff) because u have shown weakness, and maybe i was just calling his Cbet light?

I agree with you that i should not have called the river bet as there are too many thing that beat me

I just don't see flatting being that profitable here because of how wide his range is going to be. It's going to be so tough to get paid off when you do hit and even harder to pick up the pot unimproved when OOP without the betting lead.
