I was playing a side cash table, as I was playing an SnG. Normally play the .50/1.00 tables, but didn't want too much of a distraction so dropped down a couple levels. Here's a hand, what would you do??

pokerstars Game #9320947427: Hold'em No Limit ($0.05/$0.10) - 2007/04/08 - 17:41:46 (ET)

No reads, I'm pretty new to the table. What do you put him on? Easy call, tough fold??

i think we shove here. his range includes mostly stuff you're ahead of or even with (overs + draw). sometimes youll see 2p with 89, but mostly this looks like a combo draw.

Easy call for me. We're almost %100 not up against a bigger pair, and with the flush + straight draw on board, we could be up against an aggressive push w/ a draw.

x9, x8, JT, flush draw, 77, TT, are all hands that fit the line. Of course sets + 98 do too, but we have to pay them off I think.

edit: we're also getting pretty decent odds (about 2.6:1)...I think if you're folding this, we can safely say you played it weak tight.

Probably would have call because of overpair and good pot odds to call.

At these stakes ive seen big pairs played exactly like this and usually by the shortstack players. This could very well be that type but i still play the hand the same way and call his allin. I think too much in the pot to fold to 2$ more plus u gain valuable info from this player. i think he could have any of these hands: AA, KK, 1010, QQ, A9, flush draw, set. its reallly tough to tell with these ppl at these stakes unless you have an idea of their style of play.

Even if we add in QQ+, we're a favourite against his range. I don't think it fits the line well, but I wouldn't exclude it completely from their range. I agree with you - people do some pretty weird things at this level.

I thought with the pot size and the board out there, it was a basic call. Obviously I could have ran into a set, but there's no way I can lay this hand down here.

Similar situation, with CCers at table

Those who saw this hand, please don't reveal the outcome. Very similar situations, different amount in chipstacks, and other variables a bit different, same hand, what do we do??

What do you do? What can you possibly put him on here? Relatively new to table once again, no reads. Do you simply smooth call, fold, or reraise? Reraise all in or min reraise? Why?

Once again, those who saw this hand please don't reveal the hand. Thanks.

One big difference here: the players are a heck of a lot better than the first example. Although I don't know jsbrassard, but they're on the level of the other players, I wouldn't put them on A8 this time. I could see 77 or 88 limp/calling preflop though.

I'd be inclined to either re-raise or fold, just 'cause you're not likely to improve so, either define now or get out 'cause the decision is likely to only get more difficult on the following streets.

Given the day I've had..Grrrrrrr...I'd be inclined to put the player on T9 off and push it all in. My luck the player limped in with pocket 3's but surely I'll hit the J on the riv and suck out! LOL :dontknow:

At these stakes, I don't give this unknown the credit I give the CCer's at the table. A7 & A8 are still very possible. So are K7 & K8 suited. But I'm gonna go with either 2 pair or an open-ender here. The 3x BB raise for 30 cents is a regular call for the normal type of garbage player you find at these stakes.

Ah yeah, I was assuming it was another CCer that I just didn't know. If it's not, that opens up the range substantially.

Now, if it's Irexes making that move, that's a different story. I might run and hide ....

I normally play tight, but at this table I was opening up a little and making moves (ask Irexes about that, whee, bluffed him). Anyways, it was lower stakes than I normally play, so I was opening up a little when I thought people were weak. I wasn't going crazy LAG, but I was making plays when I thought the other player was weak, or when I thought I was good.

Anyways, my point is, my image is a bit loose here, so that could be another factor.

I'll post the HH in a few minutes for those of you that want to know what happened.

Similar situations, but I think I could have got away from this. The previous situation, I think I was pretty pot committed, this time, I could have minimized my losses. As bad as it is, since you're suppose to play the same at all stakes, I think I would have layed this hand down if I was playing my normal stakes of 1/2 or 2/5 dollars, like I do live. But since this was 5/10 cents I think that influenced me a little.

Ouch....I would have played it the same way unfortunately. Good thing that's all you had to lose at the table at the time.

Ouch, that reminds me too much of my game yesterday, except I had QQ in the BB, raised the SB who called.

I read his stab at a 9 high flop to mean he had K9 or A9 so I pushed him all in on the flop. It turned out he had 99 and his set turned into quads on the turn. I never stopped to think, what kind of hand limp/calls a raise preflop.
