I think you should have checked on the turn, cause you know there's a big chance your opponent just made his boat. What else would he be calling with on the flop? He wouldn't call with a small flush unless he's a complete donk. But you made the right decision to fold his check/raise on the turn even though you had that wonderfull royal flush draw.

wasnt a bad bet, let you know where you stood. if you bet 1-2 dollars, he could have cold called and cleaned you out on the river

It's one of those ones where your play was pretty solid, and folding may well have been the right choice. It depends on the player, though - if he's the kind that would play a non-nut hand, then I'd have been inclined to call, but it is tough.
It's purely a judgement call, at that point - it could easily have been a semi-bluff with trip kings, which would have left you in reasonable shape, you'll never know.
Getting off a big hand isn't easy, though, and even if it was the wrong choice, it's a good skill to have.

Joose is right and osmann is not just wrong, but WAY wrong. You got the nut flush and you don't bet out because your afraid he may have filled his boat? That's just nutty. There's only one right way to find out, a shit or get off the can bet, and that's what you did. You were right to fold after that. By the looks of your stack, you seem to have been doing OK.
