I made a comment at the end of this hand that we were just paying the house. But I have been giving it some more thought and wonder if you get a donk often enough to make raising in this situation pay. I understand the bet on the river and even the reraise but I am questioning the 3 and 4 bet after that.

yea tied pots piss me off. Nothing like having the nuts in a $100+ pot, only to find out that you end up losing like 90c...

Yeah, just increasing the rake. Like you say, there's the slight chance someone is going to pay off the other two, but mostly it's just increasing the site's cut.

Maybe I'm missing something here. But I thought in Omaha you have to use two of your cards to complete the hand. If that is the case wouldn't sibeldenise hand have won with a straight 9-K? Or do different sites have different interpretations of this? Because I have played this same hand on a different site and that was the result.

sibeldenise: shows [4s 9c Th Jh] (HI: a straight, Ten to Ace)
birdfeets: shows [6s 7s Jd Ts] (HI: a straight, Ten to Ace)
Alon Ipser: shows [Ac 2s Jc 8s] (HI: a straight, Ten to Ace)

Those are the cards they're using for the straight. The other 3 cards can be found on the board.

When there are 3 people in the hand I think the odds are decent enough to think that 1 of them is an idiot playing a set (or a 1 cards straight) here, that I don't mind all the raises.

I too have come to the same realization about Omaha in particular. I did my stint as informer to the uneducated masses, but have stopped that and instead added notes about the fools who do not understand the basic structure of the game and the rake in particular. In this particular case, you saw it was tied before hand, and neither of them made that simple leap of brain power.

You were stuck because it was a 3 handed showdown, and your effort to cap the betting (and thus the rake)was thwarted by idiots.

Good chance one of the three would be a losing hand rather than the 3 tied str8's. Yes, in 10/25c I think you would get a donkish call often enough to make the raises.

Also looks like seat 9 was short stack left in the hand when he went all-in. Holding the nuts, it made even more sense to him to push in case one (or both) of the bigger stacks was not holding a piece of the tie.

I would hope the raise and re-raise was not limited due to rake considerations. Could seat 9 have thought that the smaller bet and raise showed at least one weak hand (a set or 2pr) ? There was also only $1.25 in the pot when showdown betting started, and this was Pot Limit. The pot was small since the flop and turn were checked down.

There was obviously no possible lo hand here, but the one that gets me is the Omaha player that pushes for a quartered lo pot.
