Wasn't too sure of the right move here. Played for a while here and looked like villian was big stack bully. This might be hole in my play. What is the correct call here?

I think you need to fold here, his bet looks like he wouldnt mind a call at all. Like a 2 pair or the Q hit him or something along those lines. You are drawing to a gutshot, your 9 might be no good. I say fold and wait for better spot.

I dont mind your check preflop since you are in big blind, if you were on button I would of liked to see you raise but small pockets are hard to play OOP so a check is fine. Your lead on flop is so-so, I dont hate it and I dont love it but I can live with it. On turn you beat nothing so checking I think is best play.

I'd raise this PF. I agree you're OOP but with one limper and the SB completing you most probably have the best hand. This will also make it easier to take it down on the flop if you c-bet.

As played this will come down to reads. There's a fair bit on the board that has you beat, but if you peg him as a bluffer this isn't bad to call down.

Yeah, pot it preflop, and lead the flop. As played I think we're behind a lot here (Tx, Qx, J9, 2 pair etc) often. Just fold.

Let me say I dont mind the comments about raising preflop but I also see no reason to check for set value.

Actually I did fold it. I wasn't sure if I should have raised PF with this but I'm glad I didn't.

I raise preflop about 80% of the time here.

As played, we have effecively third pair in an unraised pot, it's a pretty standard fold.

Raise pre-flop, and likely our flop bet takes it lots of the time.

Fold looks standard on that board.

Preflop: With 99 you are generally looking either (1) to get the pot heads up and have your 99 stand up or buy the pot or (2) see a cheap flop against a lot of opponents and flop a set.

I personally like the first option - a pot-sized raise will probably only get one caller, if that, and given your position, you will likely get the first chance to fire at the flop and take it down.

Given that you checked, you really can't continue without the set. Your chances of folding everyone on the flop are low, and even if you have the best hand on the flop, you are looking at some serious reverse implied odds. I would have check/folded the flop.

If the flop is checked through and checked to you on the turn, then maybe take a stab at it, since no one has shown interest and even if you get called you might get to showdown without having to put more money in the pot.
