Hand #3 on my journey to 10k.

For the record, my standard PF raise is 3xBB+1BB/limper, regardless of my holdings or position. So, I occasionally find myself in these types of situations.

Pok3rSchwanZ is 22/8/3.7 over 230 hands. No info on the other villain.

Raise more preflop and reraise after the flop.

I don't like the size of your preflop raise. I think a standard PFR of $.85 much better.

With this flop and action, I believe I raise to $12 and gladly play for stacks. There's a ton of medium overpairs and draws in villains' ranges in addition to the few two pairs and sets that beat you.

I've been thinking about changing this for a while. But, a lot of my losing pots are check-raised c-bets where I have missed the flop. Higher PF raise means higher c-bets, but I guess I'd be getting fewer callers so it would even out.

Mainly, I've been scared to change anything fundamental to my game because I'm posting 6 BB/100 over 16k hands and 8+ BB/100 over the last 10k. :)

Maybe you don't c-bet the right flops?

Did you watch cottonseed's classroom about cbetting on stoxpoker.com? It's excellent (and part of the free videos if you're not a member)

Anyway, you winrate is impressive, so you probably don't need to change much to your game as long as you play this stake.

BTW, why did you choose PL instead of NL ?

I wasn't aware that stoxpoker had free videos. I'll be heading over there, as I know I c-bet too many flops.

BTW, why did you choose PL instead of NL ?

I tried to move into NL25 several times, and got crushed each time. Once I had my roll rebuilt again, I decided to give PL a go, to see if it suited my game better. I immediately started winning, and never looked back. I was having a lot of trouble with players who overbet the river in small pots and slowplayed, and in PL I find it easier to navigate around them.

Of course, after a successful month at PL25, I've got to make a decision for next month:
A) Stick with PL25 (possibly adding more tables)
B) Switch to NL25
C) Move up to PL50 (since I'm technically rolled for it)

Back on topic, here's the next section of the HH. Yes, I played it timidly, but the second villain really threw me off here. I thought Schwanz had something I could beat, but rawkodiak had flopped a set and was slow-playing.

azrikam: calls $2.85
enDy77: folds
*** TURN *** [4c 7c 5d] [Ad]
Pok3rSchwanZ: bets $4.25
