well party hooked it up with a free 40 bucks, i built it up some playing sng's and some limit cash games, then decided to step up to 10/20 because i didnt really care about building a roll just wanted to make a whole bunch of money real quick...didnt go so well

That second hand is absolutely brutal. What is that guy thinking? Seems like pretty bad play all around from him.

But what's the deal with party giving away free money all the time? Is it a loyalty thing or do they just give it away to keep people there?

He didnt really have any reason to believe he was beat until the raise on the turn, at which point he was getting 7 to 1 on his money. He had 6 outs there, so if he knew he was up against a pair of queens, his 13% chance to win almost justifies a call.


A raise on the flop could have saved you a lot of money, but I cant blame you for playing it the way you did either- you just got robbed on the river.

You'd have been better off shortstacking 500NL or something if you wanted to 'get rich quick' and didn't particularly care about losing it.

I don't know, it seems like a reasonably loose re-raise pre-flop, even shorthanded. He probably put you on a flush draw on the flop after you called. Upon further review, not as bad a play as I previously thought...oh well.

I agree that a raise on the flop would've helped you significantly though.

That was the first thing I noticed too. You should have reraised the flop for a number of resons although with only one overcard on the board he probably would have called that anyway since it was a small bet.

On the first hand, Villan was screaming that he had you beat. He was raising and reraising every chance he got. He had you beat on the flop, you got lucky/unlucky with the 7 on the turn.

Some people just won't ever let go of the mid pair, they'll call you all the way down just for the sake of calling.
