Reads: This was my very first hand at this table so I had absolutely no reads. Preflop raise was pretty standard, no real indicator for me there.
Post flop I didn't think the check would do me much good, he was most likely going to c-bet if I checked which wouldn't have given me much info. Wondering if I missed something, overplayed my hand or just ran into some bad luck.

Ok, this is OMG terrible.

1) Pre-flop 3 bet, reraise, given your stack size, i think you shove.

2) Flop. If you gonna check raise then check raise, dont try to pot built with min-bets, the flop action is simply terrible.

3) Turn : What on earth do you think your beating at this stage, if your not getting in on the flop then your done with the hand.

4) Buy a book, stop playing and read it.

5) Dont buy in short to a nl$10 table, shortstacking will not work here.

Wouldn't Have Helped Anyway

Reaper;

I think this is one of those situations where either way your money is going into the pot, it's just a question of the manner in which you get it in there. I think that you need to make stronger moves. If this is indicative of how you play most of your hands, you are going to end up letting people suck out on you way more than you'd like. I would love to see a re-raise pre-flop here, probably to around $1.00. That having been said, you are almost assuredly going to get a call from the Jacks. You would then bet out on the flop...pot sized would be $2, but since you were short stacked, you would just push at that point. Obvioulsy you were going to get a call.

Bottom line is, I don't think you overplayed your queens, I think you under played them. However, this is one of those situations where it wouldn't have mattered. You were going to lose anyway, and you needed to have all your money in the pot with that hand.

THIS

OMG, I really haven't seen a hand played this bad posted on here in a long long time. I'm not trying to insult you but playing like this is giving away your money.

Please take his advice, read some good poker books (we have reviews of many of them on here) before you return to the tables.

I figured that, my mistake was trying to get cute out of the BB.

Duly noted, still adjusting to this whole no limit thing (used to playing limit).

4) Buy a book, stop playing and read it.

I have a book, in fact I have several books. While I admit I'm still learning I have the basics down and need to work on the execution. I admit that I pretty much F'd this hand up, however I don't need to stop playing poker. I made a mistake with one hand and wanted to get some input on how to play it better in the future.

That's kind of what I was thinking, but as I said in the other post I'm still adjusting to no limit. When it was all said and done I knew the end result wasn't going to change, yet I still knew I played it wrong.

Hey man,

Yeah this is a pretty badly played hand but don't get put off by the comments. You have plenty to learn and there are quite a few good players on this forum who can give some great analysis that'll only improve your game.

I'd also suggest reading some strategy articles and have a look at a couple of books. Do a search for books because a few guys on here have read alot of poker books and done some great reviews.

good luck

You're right of course, but honestly the hand still pisses me off, lol. At least the way I played it does cause I knew I screwed up. I think just reading the reactions to my post rubbed me the wrong way.

Don't take the above negative-sounding posts as malicious in any way; those guys are only trying to help. While I don't have anything to add, I want to second reading the articles and guide section at the top. They should help somewhat.

On these limits, if someone after a check-raise, the villian min-raises, it's my experience (about 100.000 hands) that the villian has either an big overpair or a set about 70-80% of the time, or some other very very strong hand. These players are too afraid to scare their opponents off, so they bet a small amount.

And don't stop posting hands for analysis.

At one time I made a suggestion for a beginners section, for more basic questions and analysis. This would have fit perfectly.

I don't agree with this. Yes you definitely 3bet for value. No you don't shove for 40xBB over a 3xBB raise. If anything 3bet to about 14xBB which leaves you with just about a perfect pot sized shove on the flop.
