Omaha Split - Getting Quartered - holdem or foldem?

Alright

Lately I've been branching off from my usual NL holdem games and have been playing some Razz and Omaha cash games, with some encouraging results.. especially with Omaha games and especially with Omaha Hi/Lo.

I seem to be going okay, but when i do bleed some cash it tends to be because I'm getting involved in large pots where I get quartered. In a few of these cases I've been just about certain that I'm gonna get quartered, but I continue on anyway.

Which leads to my point.. Is it ever a better idea to fold the river when you're almost certain there'll be a quarter split for the low?

Or is this purely just a situational thing where you have to sit back and work out the payouts for the split, and whether it's worth putting in the last bet. i.e There's $30 in a pot on the river and I have the nut low and I'm pretty sure one of the other two also has it - 3 left in the hand. First bettor bets pot (pot = $60), second bettor calls (pot = $90).. If I put the $30 in as well the pot is $120, but I stand to most likely only get a $30 return from it. I've already invested $10. So if I call the bet I've invested $40 for a return of $30 (= -$10). If I don't call I'm down the $10 I'd already put into the pot (-$10). BUT.. when you take rake into account, I'm not even going to get the full $30 back if I call the river bet.. which means I'm losing more money by calling the showdown..

Which leads me to my thinking.. is it sometimes better if the other low draw jams the pot first, to just fold and cut your losses. Or is it always better to call, cause for the odd time where they actually don't have the nut low, you'll show +EV overall?

The object of hi-low games is to scoop. In limit games, it's often fine to just play for nut low, but in pot limit games, this can be a serious leak in your game to make these calls with no chance at high in a multi-way pot. Reads are key of course but look to scoop.

So you reckon probably ditch the hand before it even gets to that point?

and just to clarify, I am playing hands that can play both ways for the scoop, and good high drawing hands. So this is mainly a flaw I'm having when I miss the high draw on my hand and know I won't win the high, but I've still got cover with the nut low and I probably hang onto it when maybe I shouldn't be going to showdown in a multiway?
