Not that this person didn't win but what did he originally do wrong?

I'm assuming you are ferring to DAN 1974.

If I was DAB1974, I would have gone all-in preflop (I'm assuming this is no-limit;) ) with A-x suited. He was very shortstacked and it's not a bad hand to go all in with considering the outs he would have.

If you're going to be pot committed, you might as well put it all in, in this spot, yes.

The extra 265 in chips may have been enough to get the small blind to fold in that situation and have a successful steal. He allowed the person to see a flop. I dont think you would get many people off the flush draw for another 265 in chips.

By going all-in you get presumed strength. I will give the person the benifit of the doubt if they throw all their chips in the middle preflop. The SB would have to assume he is outkicked or at least drawing to only the ace there. The standard raise could be seen as a timid play and begging for a call. I want to try and steal but don't want to risk all my chips to do it.
