3b bigger pre.

Bet sizing looks alright post, maybe a little bigger on the turn.

River is a fold, clear fold. His bet size is small, there is 4 straight on board. Can't be paying off this river.

Hi Thomas et al,

First time caller, long time listener.

When I'm analyzing hands, I take a two pronged approach: the winning hand side and the losing hand side. By thinking each hand through, I gain a better understanding of how, and why, hand play out the way they do. I challenge you, et al, after you see the hand, to play the same hand out from the other perspective. In this hand specifically, would you fold anywhere? If so, why? If not, why? Once you can truthfully answer these questions, then, I believe, your game will truly begin to evolve.

In the interest of full disclosure, I am not a 6 handed specialist; I make the assumption that Sandund, Beanface, and Kozong are (or at least play more than I do). That said, I think you lose the minimum on this hand. To raise larger (3 or 4x or larger pre) only inflates the pot, thus you will need to bet/call larger amounts on all three streets.

Playing 6 handed, the CO and chip leader can (and will) be opening wide here. Raising 3 or 4x, will not necessarily push him off this hand, as he has position on you (sometimes it will, sometimes it won't). Once you both see this flop, it's all going in (or it should). Before I read what his hand actually was, I am starting to put him on a range. My first thought was KQ, but QJ (for all intent and purposes) is the same.

With you taking control preflop and out of position, a c-bet is almost always in order, especially with this flop. I don't see any problem with 2/3 pot sized bet here. If he doesn't have a J or FH or overcards, it is very difficult for him to continue. (As I started this post, if you are in the villain's position, would you fold any of those hands?)

The fact that you c-bet the flop, and he calls, should allow you to put him on a better range now. (Would he raise preflop w/KQ, 89, 99-TT, AK? Would you if you were in his position? Once this flop comes out, would you fold these hands? Why would he?)

The T is not a great card for you but your hand is much to powerful to not bet here. Unless he has 99-TT or KQ, a bet is in order. Again, .44 into .61 (2/3rds ish) is right in the correct bet sizing range. His call should now have you worried, however. What hands could he be calling with that you are ahead of? He never has KK here, thus you can eliminate that from his range. Again, in your position, I'm most worried about TT, 99, KQ. Being 6 handed, it makes sense that the villain raises all of these preflop. You push back, and he calls wanting to see a flop. With the exception of the TT's, he decides to take a flyer and, unfortunately for you, hits the T hard! Again, when you bet and he calls, what is he calling with/for? Would you call on the flop and turn for runner runner flush? Why do you think he would? Again, you can eliminate that from his range, unless it's KdQd.

A check on the river, has to be the right decision here. As I pointed out in the last paragraph, are AdQd, KdQd, 7d8d options of possible holdings here? Maybe, again, I'm sticking with my original read of either 99 or KQ. And we're behind in both of these hands. As it turns out, he bets .22 into a pot of 1.49. This bet sizing screams for a call. Which due to the small sizing, I believe you reluctantly have to call. If it were larger, perhaps a fold but it would depend on how big the bet was.

Contrary to BeanFace's comment, folding to such a small bet size, has the potential to make BF exploitable. I suggest that you don't fold to this bet. Reluctantly call, see the bad news and move on to the next hand. With the knowledge that you lost to a runner runner straight or to a three outer (has to hit the Q to over take you; not including chop pots). In either case, you got it in good and he luck sucked out. I want these types of calls. All. Day. Long.

My thoughts, what's yours?

Fold River, 3bet bigger pre, other than that you played it well

based on your play it also looks like you dont really have a concise plan developed for the hand and you arent thinking ahead
