Ok Ok wondered if I shouldve called the flop bet, but it was the players action on the turn that highly amused the table....:)

Mathematically you should have folded to the flop bet, you were getting 2:1 and you were a 4:1 underdog to hit a flush on the next card.

Well, maybe he put you on Ace-X, that's pretty reasonable. And he did have outs to make a boat.

What he might have put me on has nothing to do with betting his entire stack with a flush on the board. I am beginning to entertain the idea that poker is not an enjoyable game for you.

i am actually more impressed with the fact that on a table of 9, 7 people are ahead for the session. the max buy-in for those tables is $10, is it not?

otherwise, it was a good bluff. :D with 10 outs to actually win.

Although i havnt got anything to say on the op since it has all been covered really. I am intrigued by the above comment. When exactly are you meant to ignore the maths and go with your gut feeling? and also what is the gut feeling in the above situation? That you will hit your flush?

Ummm... what?

NO NO NO NO NO!

As switch said..what is this "gut feeling" of yours? That you will hit the flush? You claim to be able to predict the future based on this "gut feeling"?

Do not ignore the math here ever. Ignoring the math here is making a mistake and regardless of if you win the hand or not it was still a mistake. Mistakes are what cost you money in poker.

Although it may have been a bad call, in this particular hand the OP was getting implied odds. You can't assume a stack when you hit your flush, but in this case the implied odds were there. Miss the flush, just lose the call. Hit the flush, win the pot and the stack.

Can I play with you?

When people bust they can buy back in. So if there are 9 people sitting on $10, and one guy busts another $10 comes onto the table. For example whenever I get below the max buy-in, even if it's just the blinds hit me, I immediately re-buy up the max. If everyone does that there's more money on the table and it's quite explainable why the majority would have over the max buy-in.

Sorry forgot to mention the logic I see all the time with these types of hands. The 3rd heart hit, the only thing the set was worried about, they know they have a monster, don't want to think anymore, so make the move that immediately ends all decision-making: ALL-IN.

Strategy doesn't make the most sense though, bet hard AFTER the scare card comes, but hey that's where the money comes from :)
