ronaldadio: folds Should I have called here to see a flop. I already have invested 1/2 a bet.

I don`t want to play lower stakes as it would not be my thing. I don`t want to sound big headed but the cash side is not an issue. I am also trying to build up FPP on Pstars.

What I`m thinking is should I at the moment play a very basic FL game. Tighten up, if I have a hand like AK in early position limp with it and if I miss the flop I can fold. Also, should I give up on bluffing for now and just play % ?

Thanks guys

Almost started analyzing, and yelling at you for not raising more on the flop on the first hand, and then it dawned on me---this is limit HE.

Yea, not my specialty at all. I should not be giving anyone advice on LHE, so hope someone else can help you out.

dont show showdown if you want unskewed results. first hand, not likely villian has a hand with a 5 in it. maybe ajh qj j10 but you're ahead usually here. seems pretty standard but i think we bet the river.

First hand is an absolute river bet. You have to bet the river. You're missing so much value, you're throwing away Sklansky dollars

Be much more aggresive

I'd have either raised the flop or the turn. If he caps the flop and bets the turn, then call. If he calls the 3 bet flop and checks, you bet.

Or call 2 bets on the flop with full intention of raising the turn unless an A hits.

Top two is a MUST bet on the river there. You're giving away a LOT by not betting. If the guy plays a hand with a 5 you laugh because he's giving his money away in the future. If he flopped a set of 8s. Cold deck, next hand. Gotta be aggressive and protect your hand in limit.

AK early position

I'd definitely suggest raising in early position with AK. Even though you're only making a pair 1/3 of the time your in excellent position to check-raise if you do hit something.
Chances are you have the best hand preflop, push the advantage whenever you have it, no matter the position. Playing limit is about pushing small advantages, raising IS the percentage play. I highly recommend reading Small Stakes Holdem by Miller, Sklansky, and Malmuth. Very good read for small stakes games where people play too many hands. Pumped my BB/hr sky high after reading it. GL!

Yes, bet the river.

Hand two is an auto-fold.

#1 bet river nas said 439857 times before. Worse hands are calling you and why would villain try and get you to bet when you appear to have shut down after the flop raise? You appear to be over-thinking, I think it was Harrington who said that most actions mean exactly what they appear to mean and are not part of some grand evil scheme.

Also, what hands are you really afraid of - and how much of villain's range do such hands comprise?

#2 really routine fold OOP.

KJo is a routine fold for me to any raise in any position, except for one more bet in the big blind. We're behind virtually every hand that opens and we're dominated very, very often. I can't think of any hand that risks domination as much as KJo.

And yes, out of position it's even worse. Don't even think about calling.

Thanks guys

Exactly as I was thinking after the hands.

And yes, DM, I think I am thinking too much. At this moment in time I can catch a FH and I`m convince the other guy must have quads/ better FH. This is in limit mainly - cause I`m new to it I think.

But again, thanks for your comments, all very helpful.

Well usually in limit I'm a tight player, so I'd fold Q-J preflop.

FP,

On the button I'd relegate it from a "really routine fold" to a "routine fold". :)

Ron,

Think in ranges of hands as opposed to "He probably has <exact hand>".

Ron,
Think in ranges of hands as opposed to "He probably has <exact hand>".

Ranges then probabilities of them having that? I will. Sometimes, however, I will almost know I`m well behind but a little  in side me says "no call, he might be bluffing"

Bluffing in LHE? OK, I know I don't have even close to the experience and knowledge in LHE as I do in NLHE, but bluffing in LHE? This very very very very unlikely an event of occurring as it does in NLHE, so most likely people aren't bluffing.

Unless, maybe that's not what you were stating, if you were talking about NLH, then disregard my post.

There's bluffing in limit holdem. It just doesn't work as much. I'll bluff the river if I think there's a better chance that the opponent will fold than pot odds if calls. If I think theres a 25% chance that the opponent will fold, and there are 5-6 BB in the pot, LHE bluff comming up. It comes up a lot when both of you are drawing. You just have to make sure to do it against somebody who CAN fold. If it's a donk that will call with Ace high no matter what, then save your money when your small draw miss.
