For a change of pace I have been playing some stud / Omaha hi / Omaha hi/low ( round out my poker skills a bit, maybe for some horse later on)

Seeing as I don't play Limit usually, I was wondering how this hand was played, and if I should have called the river raise. Usually people call down like this on draws and then raise on the river when they hit. (from my limited experience anyways)

There is no such thing as a river bluff at these levels. Well, at least they aren't successful very often. You ran into a higher 2 pair or trips, good fold.

Many posters would have called getting over 8-1 here...only has to be right once every 8 calls for this to be a profitable play, plus it gives you more information on your opponent.

stud

in stud it is almost impossible to lay down a hand on 7th street, I think if you are folding alot on 7th that is a giant hole in your game unless of course you missed some soft of draw.

^This

I understand the bet when you had a pair of queens. But when you have a fluh draw and an Ace is showing, I would just check and call what he bets. It prevents a reraise which could have happened if you bet first.

6th is debatable, but 7th is an absolutely standard check-call (and this is coming from someone who knows bugger all about stud)

Why would you even think about betting this river with one pair, which is face up?

River is an obvious check/call. You really can't fold at this point but you want to put in as little as possible. You are prob beat since he's obviously not afraid of your pair but laying down on the river is rarely the right play if you have the opponent's board beat.

I made this bet thinking that maybe he had a busted draw and would fold, which he had done before on several occasions.

so? if he has a busted draw and folds, you gain nothing by betting the river. okay, you also gain nothing if you check and he checks behind, but seeing as he won't always have a busted draw and he won't call your river bet with anything that you can beat, there is absolutely no reason to bet the river.
