yeah i think your flop bet let him continue with the hand had it been about pot size you would have thrown him off but alas i've had many hands play out like this myself.

i dont understand the bet after the flop and again at the turn but i dont think theres much chance of getting rid of him on this hand. after the flop he has an open ended straight draw and you let him see the turn very cheap, then the ace hits on the turn and now theres an open ended straight draw and a flush draw.

i agree , knowing there was possible open end there i would have tried to get him out then or pay big to draw , then again on the turn , so i would have lost all my money too but not the same way.lol . not sure if i could lay the set down , but i think so from here ,lol.

What's with the min-betting? Throw out a proper bet like 1/2-2/3 the size of the pot on the flop.

Not trips, but a set, meaning your pocket pair hit a third card so it's not so obvious you have 3 of a kind.

I can see your interest in slowplaying. There is no flush draw, but there's a dangerous straight draw right at the flop, so you're taking a risky venture slowplaying this on the flop. If you bet more, you don't have as much reason to expect he's hit a flush as it was a runner-runner flush, but he had the perfect hand for chasing that flush.

He'd still call, and you'd still end up losing, but still, I don't think this is a flop to slowplay.

I don't know about that NL. He got checked into with a set, your first thought goes to try to get value, its very hard to put him on an OESD. With the pot being $1.25, yeah he could bet more than 10c but do we really want to bet too much and risk that this villain goes away after flopping a set? In reality I think we're hoping for him to catch up a bit, and that A on the turn looks perfect.

His turn reraise leaves villain with $2 to put into a $5.45 pot, so about 2.75 to 1. Maybe here is where the raise could have been a bit larger, but unless you know he's on a double draw in reality the turn reraise isn't really that terrible. The awful bet was the 10c on the turn after he checked. But as was already said I don't think you'll ever get villain to fold here with the hand he has, and I'm not sure you're looking to make him fold anyway, just to draw incorrectly. Although there really isn't any sense to talk about drawing incorrectly if we pay him off when he hits as happened here.

On the river a lay-down is possible with villain's huge bet, although I admit I almost never fold a set (huge leak of mine).

This is just a tough break, it sucks to lose like this but its poker. This hand really makes a great example of how sometimes you try to get value and it backfires, but I still don't think its a huge mistake to slowplay this flop. The bigger mistake was to pay him off on the river.

You're probably right, joe. I have a tendency, especially when reviewing a HH, to look for any reason that I should have bet more. T9 is not JT/QJ/KQ which are more likely to have hit someone's hand.
