um fold quickly or fold slowly, whichever you prefer

not saying making a move won't work sometimes, but he's got an overpair here often enough that i can't imagine it being a particularly good idea

This is could likely be a c-bet, but with his re-raise PF, even if you catch one of your cards on the turn or the river, your hand is probably only second best.

Yes I would fold slowly because you don't want to fold fast giving that you had two big cards.

Because of course, if we fold too fast then we can't obtain the full magnificience of the "two big cards" and then all would be lost, of course, lol.

Um, why would having two big cards matter on the speed of how you fold?

I don't know what to say here. TB is saying he has a hand and although I haven't played against him he seems a solid player. Normally this is a fold in my book but I don't know if he's messing with you or not, I'd hate to say easy fold and then find out that you really did fold and he showed 97o.

But either than him possibly fooling around with you it seems an easy fold to me (in most cases, I might add, its actually a PF fold after his reraise).

It could lead to your opponent gaining information that you might not be a loose player and more of a tighter player. Also, life is full or suprises you never know if it could haunt you in the future.

You're wrong again Estelle, there actually is a good reason to fold fast or slowly and Alex just explained it. Perhaps you never thought about it or think its overrated, I happen to think its important since its done in live games too. One of the few tools you can apply to online poker.

What are you talking about Joe? Wrong again? When was I ever wrong the first time?

OK, for live play yes, folding speed does help you establish your image in such and such a way. But online I don't put as much importance on it.

Sometimes when I'm eating, busy with work, ect, I play slow at times. It's just a very unreliable read, to say that because someone took so long to call, or took so long to fold, ect, that they area playing in such and such a way.

People have slow connections, someone just called them, had to go to the bathroom, ect, numerous reasons for slow fold. It's just not that significant part of online poker. This shouldn't be something you're considering to do all the time, to make it seem like you have an awesome hand that you're laying down. The other person might care less that you're taking so much time, for all you know he could be watching a movie while playing and not even paying attention.

I just don't think that this is relevant online, as much as it is live. I just put use as much time as I need to make decisions, longer for tough ones, shorter for easy ones, no need to put on a show. Live play it does matter, online, not so much.

Well, unless its an 80 year old man with some serious prostate issues, or an 8 months pregnant woman, I doubt anyone would go to the bathroom in the middle of a hand. The game is on PS, slow connections are generally not a big factor and when you happen to get disconnected on PS, usually the table is made aware of it. As for the cases where they just got a phone call, they're watching a movie, they're kids distracted them etc, you're free to make all these assumptions if you wish, but when you get a quick fold all this is now gone and you CAN, in that case, assess a meaning to it.

The fact you don't think its relevant online doesn't mean that others share this thought. I think it is important and evidently Alex also thinks so. There was no need to pick on his comments or attempt to make him sound stupid. If you disagree with him, that's fine, but do it respectfully. Your sarcasm is out of line, so much actually that I don't think you even realized why he said fold slowly until he explained it.

How long a player takes to act online is as important as their poker face online.

In your opinion. But that's fine, I respect it. Fact is though, to mock at someone who disagrees with it (as was done before) is uncalled for.

Seriously, i wasnt mocking you. I truely feel that given all the factors already listed in this thread, time is of no importantace to the game, just like a poker face since you cant see them(besides slowing it down).

You've never played against someone who's auto-checked the "call any bet" box, and you've never seen the "oh, what shall i do, oh this is hard, oh i've really got to think about this?" re-raise with AA?

I dont think how long you take to fold your hands is important - i agree with you and Estelle there. But knowing that someone has called a bet without having any idea of how much the bet was? Yep, pretty important.

I know you weren't, I never meant you.

I don't know how important it really is, its just something I read on HoH, in honesty though it was referred to live games. On Sundays I usually spend some time watching the SM instead of playing, and I notice how, many times, players do this, particularly PF when their raise gets reraised. Are they trying to hide the fact they were stealing? Is it really that important? Dunno. But when they take alot of time and start using their clock its a fold 99.99% of the time, that's what I've noticed. If they shove or call it usually happens very quickly. I don't know if its staged or if they are actually figuring odds. Maybe both. I don't personally make a big use of it, just occasionally.
