Looked like he had a set? But at the same time his raise preflop from early indicates he probably wasn't playing low pps. Should that have been a reason for firing again on turn or should I still have taken caution?
He was a decent player, about 20/16

Pot is $2.55 preflop and he only has $8 left for an SPR of just over 3.

DO NOT FOLD OR SLOWDOWN WITH AN OVERPAIR HERE EVER!!!

Bet the flop bigger ~$2 and put the rest in on the turn.

Possibly Pocket 4's, maybe 5's . With that he would have a gutshot and maybe he figured he could float your c-bet since you were OOP and raise you on the turn if you slowed down. If that is the way he played it of course he got very lucky on the turn.

Sorry didn't realize he was looking for villain's range.

I'd say :
22+ - 20/16's are opening all pairs from all positions and I doubt they fold many of them to the 3bet and that entire range could play the way villain did here postflop.

Against that range you're a 70% favorite on the flop. WTF are you waiting for GET IT IN!!!

Doesn't need to be a set here; could be 88/99/TT/JJ, especially with the board so low. When you stop betting he thinks he may be ahead of your AK. Or it could be AK on his part too. Flatting pre to the 3 bet with AK and then calling flop is bad, but not impossible at $10nl.

You've played this almost like a WA/WB situation, maybe because you're afraid of the set, going for pot control, but there's too many hands that you're ahead of; keep betting.
