In the blinds I was given my King rag, hit TP and played it like I would any other pair - although I won the hand in a non risky manner, please comment on my river action!

I checked it and now questioning whether I should have made a bet to control pot size but a smaller bet before or whether you would have done the same to save your money.

Your check is fine. Standard I'd say.

When we're debating whether or not to bet the river, we've got to ask ourselves "what will call us that we have beat". In other words, we have to have a reason for betting.

Take a look at his range, see what types of hands he might have, and then make your decision. In your example, bigger kings, sets/full houses and made flushes will obviously call any bet from you. Busted flushes aren't going to call. The only thing that's calling you here that you have beat is a smaller queen, so checking is best.

Some might argue that a hand like villain had (2nd pair with a missed flush draw) would call a small value bet, and its probably true. But with your hand, betting the river after you get called on the turn with a pot size bet wouldn't be a great move IMO.

It's true that he could have been simply chasing a flush (even w/o the right odds to do so), but I just think you have too many ways to lose, your hand is way too vulnerable so its best to check.

c/c this river would be standard, to induce a bluff from a missed draw....well played

Bet the pot, get looked up by pocket sixes, and claim you were "range merging".

Nothing wrong with the way you played this hand, I'd of done just about the same thing.
