Should I have made that continuous bet on flop? Or should I have re-raised him preflop?

raise more pre-flop after 1 limper... I'd make it $2-$2.50. tl112 limp re-raised a callable amount out of position after a raise and two calls, which shows tons of strength. I'd often fold it right there because this is AA or KK so often, but I can't blame you for calling with AK. Once flop comes, check-fold is fine.. you have nothing and tl112 has a pocket pair about 95% of the time. Check-fold turn as well. And you can't technically make a "continuation bet" because the last raiser pre-flop was tl112. He took the lead away from you, so to speak

So the only clear mistake I see was not raising enough initially, and it was only a minor one

Had i raised up to $2-$2.5 preflop, I would have gotten rid of maybe both limpers. But tl112 would most likely make the same sizable re-raise. I would be at a larger loss. Additionally, if the two limpers had fold to a $2.5 raise, I would give less credit to tl112's re-raise... since he re-raised knowing that I'm the only one in the hand with him. His all-in could have been a steal, considering he checked postflop. The only reason I would check on that flop is if i hit a set of Q's - that is, i wouldn't try to slowplay AA's or KK's.

well that's just being results oriented.. when you were raising, you obviously thought you had the best hand and didn't know you'd get limp reraised. so assume you have the best hand for now and clear out the really speculative hands

And there are players who will check AA or KK on that flop sometimes, not unheard of, but by the turn I also think he could easily have TT or JJ and be shoving because it looked like nobody liked the Q. Even if he thinks he's stealing, you can still be beat by his small pair.. the point is that this sized limp reraise preflop is too often a pair of some sort. He *might* have nothing, but there's no way you can call the turn, so there's nothing to do but fold there

OK thanks combuboom, you make a lot of sense. One more thing though. Do you think a re-raise here would be sensible?

You mean preflop? Well no, I wouldn't reraise cause like I said, the limp UTG reraise, especially after this action, is showing a lot of strength and in my experience is usually very good hand. AK is a very good hand too but doesn't do well against a range of other very good hands (JJ+, AK). We're usually either even or we're dominated by KK or AA. If he's a donk enough to do this with AQ, so be it, but that would be an exception and it's just very unlikely that you're ahead. You have position on the reraiser, so I like just calling and seeing the flop with him in position, like you did, better than reraising. I also wouldn't fault a fold like I mentioned before, but you're getting pretty good pot odds with AK so I think a call's fine
