While playing a .01/.02 6 max table a player sit down playing virtually every hand and quickly gained a maniac image showing nothing cards after betting / raising and winning pots. When ever someone played back at him (including me) he seemed to hit cards and talking smack along the way. I reloaded and decided to play even more tight looking to get into a hand and trap him when this hand came along. I thought I had such a hand only to find out that he once again picked up a good hand post flop only for me to draw out on him by the river.

I had him a wide range of hands as he constantly would play aggressive if he could get isolated down to three handed or heads up play so I was a bit surprised when he turned over his hand.

My thought process pre-flop was to simply call the blind and call if he raised, which he did. Post flop I felt with top pair 2nd kicker I probably was good at that point as his range of hands seemed very wide. When he bet out post flop I figured he was simply trying to push me off the hand as normal (and did many times when I didn't hit or had a weak hand). I called, incorrectly thinking I was trapping him. Brick on the turn and I end up all in getting a surprise seeing his hand. Lucky for me a K came out completing my straight for the win.

I have to admit that even though I thought I had played the hand well last night working my way through this posting is giving me 2nd thoughts on that. I caught some grieve from him for drawing out on him on the river but given the fact he played very loose and aggressive, that it was hard to put him on a hand I don't feel to bad.

I was wondering what other people think about the hand?

Against a LAG player at these levels, why not.He sounds like the typical idiot that plays these games and good thing you sucked out against him.

Sounds to me like one of those guys who thinks he's Gus,Daniel,or Phil. When in all reality he's more like Larry,Curly or Moe.It's these types of people that make it impossible for me to sit at one of these tables.

Raise for value pre-flop. And if you're tired of being pushed around, why not re-raise pre-flop? You have a good hand, and position.

On the flop, don't just think "top pair 2nd kicker I must be winning". You don't actually beat that much - AA, AK, AJ, AT, JJ, TT, KQ are all part of his range, and all beat you. AQ obviously you only split. Other hands in his range might be KK / QQ / 88 / 99, but they will usually check this flop, and won't bet the turn.

You should really fold on the turn. Raising is extra-bad because there's nothing that will call your raise that you beat. If he's bluffing, the raise achieves nothing. But if you are going to raise, you should go all-in and realise it's a bluff.
