J-10 sooted

In an unraised pot 6-max in middle or late position is J10 suited a raising hand? J10 is one of my favorite hands to just call a raise with but in an unraised pot how should J10 be played?

I don't play 6-max but in FR JTs is def a raising hand if folded to me in CO, BTN, SB

Unraised, I would say yes... but I think it really depends on the table. If you have a LAG in the blinds or a calling station anywhere at the table then no. If the table has been folding a good part of the time to continuation bets then yes.

I play $25 NL, and yes it's a raising hand in an unraised pot.

I'm almost always going to raise with J/T in an unraised pot from middle position.

Just don't get too excited if you hit top pair, as callers can easily have you beat.

I'd just shove with it preflop. That way it spares you from having to make any tough decisions on the flop when you hit top pair or something. And then of course if you're called you know you're beat and really shouldn't have shoved

This most be the reason i dont do well in ring,im not pushing j10.

Zach is a full ring player... and a smartass.

He does get me thinking though. Shoving will not only let us know if we're beat, but it'll disguise the weakness of our hand *and* provide plenty of steam equity should we suck out. Hmmmm...

Seriously though. You play T/Js the same way you play 6/6. You're looking to disguise your hand and hit something significant, or get out. A *lot* of calling hands are going to have you dominated, so top pair isn't going to cut it with a couple callers.
With just one caller, you can usually take the pot with a continuation bet. With two or more callers, you're just looking to limit the damage (assuming you didn't hit something significant).

If you like calling with this hand, you need to balance it with raises sometimes
, but in 6-max it depends on how tight or loose your table is. You don't want to get squeezed with this hand.

For 6max I raise J10s anywhere except UTG unopened and usually raising limpers OTB with it. Blinds I will usually check/fold it in the big blind and fold/complete the SB based on how many have limped in already.
