This is a discussion on implied odds ? within the online poker forums, in the Cash Game Hand Analysis section; I folded . but I was wondering if implied pot odds made this a call ? I'm getting 3/1 pot odds on a 4/1 shot
I folded . but I was wondering if implied pot odds made this a call ? I'm getting 3/1 pot odds on a 4/1 shot , he obviously has two pr or a str8 , so if I hit the nut flush , I probably will get his other $7 , does that make my implied odds 6/1 and warrant a call ?
You're getting 3:1 and need a little more than 4:1 shot, so you need to make x amount on the river.
4:1 = x:$2
4/1 = x/$2
x = 4*$2 = $8
So the pot needs to reach $8 on the river to make this a proper call; in other words you need to make $8-$5.80 = $2.2 on the river minimum.
Add in your jacks as outs and it's an easy call.

re: Poker & implied odds ?
Nothing to add here. Just wanted to say.. Chuck nailed this one. You definitely had the implied odds to call that, with your flush draw + inside straight draw.. and the fact that he will almost assuredly pay you off, you gotta call there.

even if you consider villain has KJ, and the already made hand, thus halving your straight outs, it is close enuf to the explicit implied odds that the call was in order.
