I think against someone this loose (even though we don't have too many hands on him/her), I've got to pay them off. I think this range is fair, no?

I think it's safe to assume any hand villain is willing to reraise this much for is also willing to call your all in, and with only $155.50 left in your stack I think you have to pay this lagster off (or push, rather).

easy push in my oppinion. If the lag got 10/7 the poker god just doesnt like you. So what are you supposed to do fold after long delibiration, thinking hes got 10-7.... i dont think thats winning poker.

2) Don't buy in for half a stack - get the max so you can win the max! Short stack strategy does have its uses (less likely to be bluffed) but a medium stack is the worst of both worlds

3) Puuuuuuuuuushhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TJ, 98, 77 or a set are all likely holdings. T7 goes in the muck most of the time, even in a limped pot. It's not really the idiot end if one of your cards fills a gap. You did push or at least raise, didn't you?

Again, wasn't buying in, but otherwise agree. And I'm just not the type of player who tops up after every losing hand... should I be? I think that's a sure way to hammer your bankroll on a bad night.

I pushed. (BJ: Thanks for the technical clarification) In fact, because I was filling the gap was how I explained the all the action: my straight was disguised. But the truth explained it even better:

Thanks all. I was 80% sure I'd played this correctly; but I've had a torrid last 2 weeks and have started second-guessing some of my plays; but that's what you're all here for, right?

I think this was one of those occasions where if you didn't go bust, you weren't playing it right.

I don't top up every single small hand, but maybe if I go below 90% of the starting stack I'll top it up. It's advantageous to have a big stack. You shouldn't find yourself needing to do it too much though, since if you always have close to the maximum, at some point you'll "take off" and unless you lose a huge pot you shouldn't go back below the original buy-in amount.
