I would also play as you did. Seems right against a tight short stacker

With 77 limp right move,With 99 you should be more aggressive,A5 is difficult hand to play!If QJ was suited you should play it!History saw that you made the right moves!!!well done

Limping with 77 is the correct move? Are you daft? Poker is not about what you have its about what you can rep. Raise on the SB with 77 and cbet the flop. That's +EV.

Depending on the table, limping with 77 in the sb actually may be correct. If it's a table full of tight passive players that are limp folding a lot, i would raise almost 100% of the time in that spot, because you know you will get only one or two callers and you can profitably c-bet most flops. If the table is full of maniacs that limp call with anything, i might actually just limp in the sb with 77. If you open, then you're gonna be out of position against 4-5 players on the flop, which basically makes c-betting impossible unless u flop a set. Even on a 6 high flop, if you c-bet into 4 players, it's almost guaranteed that you will be called by at least one of them, and most turn cards will be bad for 77, leaving you out of position with a mediocre hand against an opponent that is unlikely to fold any better hand or hand with considerable equity against 77.

He limps in behind another limper with 77. This is a 4-5 x BB raise on the SB and cbet on the flop. If you get called then you can start to play poker. Limping with 77 deserves punishment.
