$10 NLHE, 9 players seated.
The blinds post then UTG calls and UTG +1 folds.
I'm sitting UTG +2 with Ah Qh and $10.10
Pot is 0.25 I raise to 0.55 then the next 2 players call and the 4 after them fold then the UTG player calls. 4 players in the hand and pot is $2.35
Flop comes 2h 5s 8c UTG checks then I bet $1.20 as a continuation bet.
Then fold, call and UTG folds. Pot is now $4.75 turn card is 5h.
I check then he bets $1.50 then I call, pot is now $7.75.
The river is Kh. I bet $3.00 and he goes all-in for $9.85 and I only have $3.85 left to call with so I called and he turns over 2c 2s and takes the pot. Final pot size was $21.35.

This is what the cards looked like:

:ah4: :qh4:
:2h4: :5s4: :8c4: :5h4: :kh4:
:2c4: :2s4:

Any opinions much appreciated. Thanks as always.

Um well im fine with the continuation bet after the flop because you they might think you have top pair but on turn when you check and he bets you cant call.....gotta fold ..either that or check raise.... but i would fold.... in my opinion you played it okay...until the turn tahts where your play went bad....IMO others???

Also here's an informative private message that I got from vanquish on this one.

"Not much you can do there, villain played hand almost perfectly. Your c-bet on flop being called suggests that he hit the flop, turn pairing board might give you reason to believe he made a boat, but drawing to the nut-flush and getting great pot odds means you're pretty much committed to drawing to the flush. You could have check-called the river if you really thought he might have a boat, but other than that you just got coolered.

Hope that helps a bit,
V"

Tough one

 Hard one to swallow, Just looking at the value of his $1.50 bet on a $4.75 pot "I" may be reluctent to call, only because if he had 2 pair or trips which you at least kind of have to put him on knowing he must have caught on the flop the bet would be bigger to scare away a the flush and straight draws. Because he bet little it should look like a trap (assuming of course he knows what he's doing) or a donk move, but that is why it's called a trap cause it "looks" like a donk move. So you played your gut and that's harder to do when your looking at a screen and not a Human, so I'm sure you were putting him on just trips or 2 pair so you made the right call but your gut was off. Good luck at the tables, I hope I helped.

I wouldn't continuation bet into 3 people when you've missed the flop.

What are you trying to achieve with this bet - is it for value (what calls that you beat?) or is it to try to fold out pocket pairs?

If you're trying to fold better hands, you'll have to bet bigger than you did, because most pocket pairs will be sticking around on this flop. They'll probably call you anyway, which is why it's not a good idea to bet.

On the turn you know you're behind obviously, and you demonstrate the trouble with chasing draws on paired boards. I don't think the call here is too bad, but even if the board wasn't paired, it's a very marginal EV call, so you're probably better off not chasing when the board is paired.

On the river it's a difficult laydown with less than a PSB left. I'd probably just open-shove the river and get stacked anyway. If you were deeper (e.g. you hadn't bet the flop) you could probably get away from it if you bet the river and get raised. From the action so far, your opponent can't have a flush. He should also be afraid of the King, but still raises. What kind of hands cold-call pre-flop raises in position? Piece it together and you should find your fold.

Thanks, I was kinda thinkin somethin along those lines. But the players on the $10 tables are so shitty that sometimes It's like a coinflip as to what the hell they're doin. Like I just busted 2 guys who went all in on the flop with just a KJ and K on the flop (pair of kings) but I had flopped a set of 4's... dumb as shit but yea thats micro limits lol. I learned some things from your post, thanks. :)

This looks like a hand that was destined to be bad for you. I agree with some previous posters the turn would be the place to fold. However the villian played this pretty well. Was there anything in the time you took to make the bets or the time he took to make bets and or checks to indicate the strength of the hand?

Is the limper loose? How many callers do you expect with your raise? Your preflop could change and that could have made the hand profitable.

As played I don't dig the c-bet since you don't have much fold equity on the flop.

I think your action is a little funny. You should have position on UTG so you did he lead out on the turn?
