So did I get maximum value from this hand, or should I have placed a bet on each street? Or Maybe raised the last bet on the river?

I'd only been at the table a few minutes so didn't have a read on anyone, but the general style of play was quite tight.

What happened to you in this hand is of less significance than how to extract max value with the nuts.

You did what you could, hoping, praying someone would fire at the pot. We all do this. You get very similar action with a flush flop. Players either will represent that they have it, or they will shrink to any bet.

And this brings up the crux of the problem. Everybody checking on the flop suggests right off that u can't get paid much. Your check here is what you are asking about and IMO, a min bet would have sweetened the pot at least. Doubtful that anyone one call a big bet here, but we can never be sure.

Sometimes you get folks who won't believe a bigger bet, but will wimp away from a smaller bet. A small bet at the flop might represent only Ax. Somehow you want to get villains to believe thats what you are betting.

It is funny to think that if you do come out firing on this hand, you just might get some action. Players are peculiar and a big bet might look like a steal, and some whizbang might think he can steal this from you and your stealing attempt. This being a micro stakes game, with players of unknown capability makes determining a proper action nigh on impossible. SO it comes down to reads. If you thought anyone there was playing fast and loose, a min bet might goad them into thinking you are stealing, and they come back at you.

From the betting though, I think this table was playing pretty conservative, and you did what you could and might not have benefited much more than this.

I hate when this happens too.......:(

I think we need to bet at least 1 of the streets before the river in this hand.

The key in this hand is not to be results oriented. Sure, in this particular instance our villains didn't have much to stand up to you with. However, villains don't have just 1 hand, they have a range of hands. And you want to get maximum value out of that range. And you would rather have a chance at earning a lot if a player has slowplayed a hand like 99, TT, or a 5, than just eeking out a few more cents when you're up against un-paired overs.

The flop is somewhat drawy with 2 clubs and 2 connected cards. Its possible that someone has a flush/straight draw or a 5. And since its lower limits, they may pay to draw to it even though the board is paired. I don't think it would be a big mistake to bet the flop.

Also, on the turn, the 2nd pair could really stimulate some action for us. Just about any pocket pair will call a bet on the turn, and you might get calls from any ace. Betting the turn really looks like a steal attempt since no one is firing, and its unlikely anyone has anything. Thus hands like 77 will call you down.

If you knew what your opponents had, you probably earned the maximum this time. However, to play this optimally, I think we need to at least bet the turn, if not the flop as well. You have a big hand, and you'd like to win a big pot with it. And the only way you have a hope of doing that is by betting.

I think u played it brilliantly. Theres the possiblity to bet the turn and let an agressive player try to bluff u on the river, but without a solid read i think u played it very good.

Aside from a raise on the river, I think you got the most what you could get from this hand.

Checking the flop was the right thing to do imo. I would have bet the turn...not a big bet but try to represent a steal or something. If you are lucky you would have been raised and if not you still get money into the pot. Then you probably should have minimum raised the river...ofc if they genuinely had NOTHING the guy after you might have folded and the raiser might also have folded...but if you have the nuts and no one has anything you just aren't going to get paid off like you should...

dude you gotta raise on the river, players will call the raise because a duece came and and they think their high card is best.

Yeah, because you are second to act a bet on the turn is probably the right play as it could look like a steal and definitely going to get some weak.

You also have to raise the river. It could scare them off but there are hands that will call you down and with a monster like quads you want to keep the pot alive. This instance was never going to get too much action, but a few pointers to keep in mind in future with your monsters.

Depends on the other players in the hand, but that flop / turn will look pretty raggedy to everyone else in the hand. So I don't mind checking this all the way down to the river hoping someone will fire.

Once you get to the river and someone's bet into you though, you've gotta raise it. Even if it's just a min-raise. You're risking not getting a call out of the third player, but you're not guaranteed of getting that anyway.

In this case you weren't likely to get much action anyway, but that's often the case when you flop the immortal nuts. Shame nobody had a 5.
