We're only 3 handed for this round...so I was a bit loose preflop. I didn't really know what to do after after pf...

SB is very aggressive generally. I reraised him after the flop to see if he was bluffing or not. Perhaps I should have reraised more, but I didn't think it'ld be necessary.

Raise to only $.15 preflop, anyone who will fold to a $.25 raise will also fold to a $.15 raise. On the flop just call, no need to raise. The turn was a freezer so you did good to check it down, but if you had nothing on the river, like 8 9 suited or a small pair a bluff might be good

SB has an A weak kicker and is afraid you got a better piece of the flop because,

(1) You raised pre-flop x5bb, then post flop he bets half pot and you min-raise with only a gutshot/close ended straight showing.

(2) Turn hits, now he has to be afraid you had the Q. He can reasonably put you on any number of Q's. QQ,AQ,KQ,QJ..all hands you might raise heavy 3 handed. And even if you don't have the Q, you have him outkicked with your A that he thinks you might possibly have.

My guess, after checking it down he shows A4 sooted.

Yeah, I agree that he has an Ace/rag. He doesn't bet the turn in case you had a Q.

like ben said, raise less preflop, 5BB open is excessive, and just call flop. i'd check down as you did and probably lose the hand. but there's enough of a minor chance that we're good that i'm not going to bother trying to bluff a .02/.05 guy off of top pair

I was off by one :)

That's why you say "rag" instead of naming the card. ;)

Although, when I suspect that someone has a big overpair I always guess "K/K?" because if it ends up being Q/Q or A/A, I'm only off by one.

I think that you have to start making your preflop raises smaller because you are risking more than u have to. A raise of 3x the blinds does the same as your bigger raise and you are risking alot less.
