How would you have played this?
1/2 nl live game, 10 players.
All players sat down at once when the floor manager started a new table. This was the third hand in so I had no real reads. Everyone at the table bought in for $100-150 for some reason despite a $200 max buy in. I bought in for a $150 and usually buy in for the max.
I was dealt JJ in late position. Player in third position raises to $7 ($150 stack), players 4,5,6,7, fold. I reraise to $17 and everyone folds but the big blind ($150 stack) and player 3 who call.
The flop comes 3, 7, J rainbow. The big blind checks, player three checks and I check.
The turn is another 7 giving me the boat. The big blind raises to $15. Player three folds and I reraise to $30.
The river brings a queen and the big blind checks. I raise to $50 and the big blind goes all in.
I call and he of course shows QQ giving him the bigger full house.
Could I have played this better or was it just one of those things? I realize a could bet on the flop but unless it was a really big bet the BB would have called and with only two in the pot I was trying to get some action. This was my thinking at least. After the flop, I figured the big could have had Ak, AA, KK, QQ or 77 or some other pair so I figured I was good.
I played for another hour and the big blind turned out to be a tight aggressive player. I later got a fullhouse cracked by quads and my straight beaten by a fullhouse. It was a bad night.
I appreciate any input. I have been on a bad run lately, so I'm going to start posting some of my hands to see if I am doing some wrong or I should just ride it out with what I'm doing.
